This is a rant, because i have no other avenue to vent my frustration. Left wow in hopes of finding something new, found this game and it seemed pretty cool. So i paid my subscrption and began flying around seeing new stuff, doing missions and minding my own bussiness.Enjoing the game for the most part, difficult to figure out at times and the learning curve is pretty big, but nothing impossible. So after a month, i have some new skills a new ship some drones etc, feeling like i know the game , at least some what. Then i warp to a jump point and i get jumped for no reason , none what so ever, can't warp out everthing is jammed. Before i can even blink everything is gone. Aparently you don't need to be flagged for pvp people can just rob you at there leisure. No warning no nothing justtake all that i ave been working for and they have a good laugh at my expense. I'm sure that to all the "veterans" this is not a new thing. Myself, i think it is nothing short of robbery and thievery and is completly inexcusable. You have ruined what might have become a enjoable game for me, maybe others i don't know. Before i get flamed , yes i will go back to wow, yes i will cancel this subscription. Wow is not the game of all games, but at least all the internet tuff guy wanna can't just steal from innocent ppl who want nuthing to do with them and if i want to "pvp" at least there is some honor in it and ppl see you coming or are at least flagged so you know what they are gunna do. Unlike here where it doesn't matter, anything you have can and will be taken from you at a moments notice for no reason other than some immature bonehead feels like it. So long enjoy your lack of morality and civility.
p.s. someday charma will bite you in the ass, and mom and dad will be no where to help you, remember that.

This is not true actually. You're given a warning before you enter low sec space, and you clearly weren't paying attention.
Quote: Myself, i think it is nothing short of robbery and thievery and is completly inexcusable.
You weren't paying attention to all those people talking about how EVE is a harsh, cruel world were you?

sorry you feel that way, however unlike WoW EVE is a PVP based game, there is no Safe area nor is there a way to avoid ALL PVP. That being said you can avoid most by remaining in space 0.5 and above (concord will come to aid)

actualy i was on my way to do a mission, not "checking out" anything. warped in to a jump gate and the rest is history. No warning no flag just gone. It's not that i mind pvp it's that there is no warning and even if you wanted to avoid it you can't. That is the problem not the pvp. I've lost T2 ships with faction fittings to clever pirates a couple of times.
But it's this risk that makes the game exciting - and you're forgetting to consider the rewards you get taking risks.

You were either in low security space (which you receive a warning before entering), or you were in a corporation at war (which you receive a warning before joining). One of the first things you learn in EVE or should have learned is never to fly what you can't afford to lose.
If you want to be left alone, stay in empire space, stay in an NPC corporation, and don't fly in extremely valuable ships that make you an attractive target to suicide gankers. The only way that you were suicide ganked is if you spent a massive amount of real money on expensive modules for your ship, in which case I have no sympathy for you anyway. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

Eve is all about people, if you got jumped in empire space then yeah sorry to say those people excist aswell who live of the missery of other people.
If you went in to low sec then it was simply asking for it. But i am going to assume it was not in low sec since you WOULD have got a warning you were entering a low sec system.
I think most people here have had to face this point somewhere in their time on eve. We all lost things in eve and it always hurts. I lost so much stuff in last few weeks, however i had a great time and i am now licking my wounds. However if your already giving up after this then eve might indeed not be the game your looking for. Eve is pretty hard since most of it is based around pvp. The PvE part of eve ends once you can fly level 4 missions solo.

Before you go into low security space it gives you a warning. I have this annoying thing pop up on every new account when I lead the character to low security zones. Why you didn't get the message I do not know. It is possible that you turned it off and don't remember about it now. Some pop up came up and you didn't read and just clicked to remove it. Because all new players get warnings about pvp open zones.
But, don't blame the game for your failure yet. You could have also read the player guide about low sec and piracy. You could have asked about pvp open zones on help channels as you might have somewhere previously read that EVE is a pvp game mostly. You could have searched these forums - there a forum called Crime and Punishment where all the pirates hang out. Basically you didn't go a thorough investigation into game mechanics and got owned and now are angry at the game. Typical

Let me give you a tip concerning the presence of karma in New Eden: it's out to lunch 24/7.
You failed to take the proper precautions and lost big because of it. It's all happened to us when we were newer players (and sometimes happens to us despite experience as well), and it's part of Eve's steep learning curve. I end this post with an extract from the SPEND Corp Flight Members' Manual (we start recruiting later this summer.) The first principle is the one you need be concerned with right now.
The Four Principles of Eve
Remember these always. SPEND Members are to assume that all of these principles are true, and therefore not subjects to be whined about.
1. Eve is an MMO for Masochists
This game is incapable of fairness, forgiveness, or decency. You have no right to privacy, safety, or fun while playing Eve. Do not let these things get you down though. Remember that you too can exploit the open-endedness of New Eden to your own advantage, and dominate other players who cannot come to grips with the savagery of this gaming world. Eve is not about appealing to a broad demographic of people. Nor is it about ōbalancingö the game so that it allows for greater player security. The day that combat flags, no-fire zones, or balance through homogenization become the standard of Eve is the day IĘd probably depart this game for good. Why? Because Eve is and has always been marketed to the top tier of MMO gamers; people who want the freedom to push the limits of a sandbox-style game world. Take that away, and you are left with a modest internet spaceship game that has pressing lag issues. Yes, when you lose a ship or pod you might get angry. Anger is good (within moderated limits.) Anger means that you know you wonĘt wake up at a spawn point with all your gear still in your possession, waiting for you use it again to achieve some silly objective in some silly combat arena against silly players who risk nothing by losing. If you want limitless rewards with zero risk, either learn to embrace EveĘs high-risk model or find another game.

So were you either: 1. In low security space 2. In a corporation at war
At the time? I'm sorry, but the game warns you when either of those things happens. If you disregard those warnings, it's no one else's fault but your own. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

Pretty miserable. It's harder to evade people when you're confined to a single planet.
edit: regarding the OP's last post, you apparently had jumped into nullsec without realizing it. That was a big mistake too

youre not your ship or you isk here.. they can regained very fast..get some sp under your belt. And if you realy dire dire need some isk to start of, sell a gtc.
then enjoy the risky/cruel/free world of EVE
Here you can make a change with you char to the world in wow youre just playing a themepark over and over till the devs give ya some new carrot to grind for.

Well those warp-inhibiting bubbles can only be deployed in low-sec or 0.0 It seems to me you mistakenly jumped through a low-sec gate (or the mission sent you there), and you ran into a gate camp.
Basically a Gate Camp is a bunch of individuals shooting anyone who comes through. It's pretty harsh and sucks when it happens to you, but it happens to nearly all of us. I think you're better off since you'll know what to expect. You can also go to your map and in the "Color Stars By" tab, you can set it to show how many have been blown up recently. Good hint if a gate camp is going. __________________________________________________
