Edited by: Micheal Dietrich on 11/07/2008 21:22:43 Maybe this?
Down at my local hobby store that has this stuff the cheapest I've seen is like $300 and the kit (copter itself) would take up the bed of my truck.
Edit: Of course with this you could terrorize the cat for hours on end.

Twister Skylift
I used to sell RC stuff till a week ago so if you live within the UK or Europe one of these babies is not bad. The blades only cost ú3 a pair to replace and due to the duel contra-rotating main blades its very very stable.

I have one of these Linkage
Great fun and very sturdy, difficult to get the hang of but real good fun. Just be careful not to get a rubbish copy as there are loads of moody ones about.

You want an e sky Lama V3. A beginners 4channel coaxial. Very easy once you get the hang of it and small.

That's exactly the thing I wanted to recommend to you; it's the same thing some pals and I used for some time.
Sure, it's REALLY crap, but with some brains, you can get it to fly really decently, and to develop a feeling for flying RC copters in general. the good part about that model is, it's styrofoam. not only can you crash it from nearly 30m+ but also your furniture will stay as good as new.
Still, it's a bit weird to control; you can only fly up and down and turn left and right. forward momentum as well as braking comes from your last turn (i think right speeds you up and left slows you down or something). I know that sounds really shitty, but it isn't that much of a problem. In the beginning you will have enough to do with those two channels
Also I have to admit it sounds as if this thing wouldnt be able to pull any decent maneuvers, but thats kinda wrong. In the beginning I could barely hold that thing in the air, in the end I could circle a friends head with about 30cm distance, and him trusting me not to hurt him.
we also had some stupid vietnam jokes ready the first time i mananged to steer through the bushwork of the ficus
I can give you some tips for this helicopter:
First of all: Find out what kind of battery it has, get yourself an according plug (or use the one from the remote control) and rig yourself a proper chargin solution; chargin that thing through the remote is suboptimal, just like with the tiny RC cars. you never get the full capability of the vehicle when charged through the remote. Sometimes it's enough to wire your standard AA(A) battery charger directly to the chopper. (depends if you have a smart charger with a high enough "resolution" since the bat size of miniature RC thingies tend to be small)
Secondly: Buy some replacement rear blades. they are cheap and if you crash a lot you will notice, over time, that a deformed rear blade kills your flight characteristics. also you can bend the rear rotor a bit to modify it's behaviour, which will likely break some from time to time. Anyways, they're cheap, just do it. get a pack of like 5 or 6, should be enough for over a year.
And last but not least: SCREW IT'S NOSE! You get some weights (stickers, lol) with the model that supposedly change the behaviour of the chopper. i think those things are too light to change anything noticeably. we used a small screw and drove it into the nose of the chopper, giving him more of an permanent "forward drive".Be careful, if the screw is too heavy, it will drain the choppers battery too fast, also it will be too speedy to properly steer it indoors.
As parting words i'd like to say: when you first try to fly it, it feels like a crappy toy that never can fly properly. train some, be easy on the controls and this thing suddenly becomes FUN
edit: I don't know this but it could as well be that, if you want to go proper rc choppers some time, this tiny toy will teach you some things that actually hinder you when flying something bigger.

i have now bought a Picco Z Sindewinder. i was going to get the normal one but the only diffrence i could see was the shell of the heilicopter and the box. that and the fact that they was haveing a salve on the sidewinder made me get that one instead(half the price of the normal one!). its not chargeing and i'm waiting to (try) and fly it... My first paintball gun costed me $150 and it came with a cheap mask and a C02 can.
To date I've put about $150 more into that gun, $65 for a pistol, $600 into my beloved A-5, $200 into 4 Compressed air tanks, $50 for the remote, $80 into a mask, $300 into vests, $40 into pods, and only god knows what i spend on paintballs.

Now that you mentioned it, I still can't get over the fact that you think an A-5 is a good paintball marker.
Don't get me wrong, I like the sturdiness of the A-98 "core" but Id rather use a VL1 than a cyclone feed....
Btw, I'm a ****erfreak. Screw those Egos and crappy DMs.
