Shhhh this is how we filter out the idiots. People dumb enough to go off ganking rookies get banned and we have fewer stupid people playing Eve. I only admit it here because the idiots are too dumb to read past the first post
Also, there are non-rookies in starter systems. Uitra has quite a bit of fighting going on. You just can't shoot the rookies and can baiting/flipping is strictly prohibited. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

Amun Khonsu wrote:What your entire rant amounts to is that you are too cowardly to leave high sec.
Except he has a long history in nullsec, as do most of our corp and most griefers, gankers, and pirates. After spending about six months among these guys, I find that I'm in the minority as someone who has lived almost entirely in highsec.
This isn't a bunch of no-risk PVPers whining because we're having a harder time shooting stuff on Jita 4-4. We're looking for honest fights. Six months ago we were able to get fights on a regular basis. Back then I had to queue blog posts on a delay because I only wanted to do three updates a week, and we were having FUN engagements more often than that. Today we've withdrawn to w-space to pile up cash, pick what fights we can, and wait for Inferno. My blog hasn't been updated in forever because...what is there to update? Eve got boring.

Propmod wrote:I have little sympathy for high sec griefers or anyone else taking high sec seriously, bears included. All I see is people wanting easy targets that dont fight back. The griefers are just another form of carebear. One of my earliest gang fights--and also one of my favorites--was when we engaged an enemy fleet just outside their POS shield. We got in under their POS guns, wiped all but one of their ships, and got out with no losses.
Not all of us are risk-averse. Some of us just enjoy the mechanics of highsec, where a blob of 40 ships can't ruin all the intel and maneuvering by wiping one or both smaller fleets before a trap is sprung. We're living in w-space right now. It's boring, too. I prowl any connecting wormholes we get and sometimes go 2-3 layers deep looking for targets and find very little.

And don't try to play your silly games with me about how difficult it is to get to those targets you would like to punch. I have way too much time in a large null alliance to be fed bullcrap about that.
I'm trying to squeeze what you meant out of what you wrote, but you aren't much help. "a particularly punchable target" is one that could be reached easily (not just "punch able" but "particularly punch able") and the rest of your phrase leads me to believe you feel you are inept at being able to strike an easily available target. This use of language goes against your penchant for smacktalking. Had you said "a particularly desirable target for a punch" then I would think the target is one you really want to strike, but it has some form of defense with a degree of difficulty beyond your minor talents.
I know Monk pretty well. A "particularly punchable" target would be anything that's fun to punch. Either because they drop good loot (Incursion griefing), cry a lot, think they're awesome and need a reality check, or just plain give us good fights. We've taken fewer than a dozen people on an extended campaign into Providence to pursue a war target that joined a CVA pet alliance. We won that war in spite of operating outnumbered in hostile territory.

I have yet to be impressed by an internet tough guy. You misunderstand. It's not that fanfest is full of nerds (well...maybe, but I know plenty of non-nerds who went). It's just that a lot of the nerds who *are* there hate us, and we'd have quite a lot of fun trolling them. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. I'm just curious as to what means you've determined whether they're "nerds" and what you define a "nerd" as. Honestly, I've always considered "nerd" a term for someone who is deeply interested in a subject to the point that they could be considered an expert. Then again, I've encountered some people who equate "nerd" to "someone that I could wipe the floor with in a fight", which I don't think fits the term. What's your concept of the term? Someone who is overly obsessive on a subject. There are better words for someone who is deeply interested in something: "expert" or "hobbyist" or "passionate". Nerds are something else. They will argue for hours why their particular choice in audio/video/computer hardware is superior to all others, even when no one else is arguing with them. Nerds are convinced that they are the authority on the subject, regardless of the facts. They're the people, in this frame of reference, who think they know all there is to know about Eve. Anything that upsets that view sends them into a rage, and anyone who doesn't play by their arbitrary rules of the game should be banned. Given my corp's blatant efforts to push the envelope with the rules, guys like that absolutely HATE how we play the game.
As for "someone that I could wipe the floor with in a fight"...I don't generally try to test such theories. No matter who wins the fight, the cops and/or bouncers see to it that both parties lose.
