So im sitting here traveling, (autopilot because i dont feel like doing 30 manual jumps in a shuttle), playing with my ipod touch. And I wonder: How much fun would it be to have eve with a somewhat able client on the touch? At least maybe a small chat client with the ability to check skills... I mean hey, why not?
As well, I wonder if there are any plans by the players to release a eve-mon like tool for the itouch/iphone. A tool of this sort would be amazing, so I can show all my friends my level 70 paladin... i mean umm... my insane gunnery skillz. Ya that.

Actually, i personally have an ipod touch, not the iphone. But they are pretty much the same. I say these because they are more or less the big thing of today, granted that the other ones might be better, if you ask someone if they know offhand what an iphone is, they will say yea.
As well, i say this because they have an established delivery system. The appstore is a good way of delivering this application to the masses that play eve, as well as a somewhat advertisement to those that dont.

He does have a point, it would be awesome to have a Java client thing that would only allow access to EVE chat and skill sheet. A lite client for mobile phones and weak laptops like Asus eee, for the player on the go?

If we can't have EVE on the iPhone, why not put the Apple logo on Gallente ships instead?

Wasn't there a mobile client demonstrated years ago that was being developed by CCP together with the University of Reykjavfk ?

Edited by: Kyle''dyr Endermark on 14/07/2008 23:50:12 As soon as I read the O.P. I knew the Apple bashers would hop on board.
Anyway, I'd love to see some kind of mobile client with EVE interactivity, iPhone or otherwise. Chatting and skill management seem to be no-brainers to begin with.

There's no reason why an EveMon type app can't be created for the Iphone. Probably.

This was asked before in the Mac OS X thread and CCP Whisper replied:
Quote: Back in the grey mists of time some concept work was actually done for an EVE mobile client. But that plan got canned when security issues were not able to be resolved. The idea is still ghosting around though, as most of us agree that it would be great to be able to check up on market orders, skills and the like through a mobile interface. But that sort of thing requires more developer time than we currently have available.
