Edited by: Doc Extropy on 16/07/2008 17:30:10 Sometimes I want to print a few pages (for example a roadmap or a sheet of notes, etc...).
A laser printer would be overpowered, but I fear that an inkjet would dry up, etc...
What do you think?
Oh, btw... color, high quality and speed of printing are completely irrelevant to me. ---

10 pages a month, speed and quality irrelevant? Just go on eBay and get a used inkjet, then. Even an old used laserjet wouldn't be that expensive. For that matter, a used b&w toner printer is likely to be dirt cheap.
If you don't care how it performs as long as it prints, theres no point looking for anything specific. Just see what you can get for cheap. ------

Sir, I suggest this, or your nearest local equivelent of whatever is cheapest, at that frequence of printing its hardly worth it.
/me glances at his families HP all in one which has been used 7 times in the last 3 years.

I have a laser printer since 2002 and it still prints fine, not that I'm printing much. Got it for free btw.

OK, OK, if it'll make you feel any happier:
At 10 pages a month, how long will a printer like that Lexmark Kirjava linked (or your company's equivalent) last, in terms of decades? ------

I wrote a huge report on the lifespan and the forums ate it up. I hate you forums.
Toned down version: (all averages at 5% coverage) K-ink: over 2 years Tri-color ink: around 2 years
K-toner: Almost 2 decades although toner will lose its charge before then. C, Y, and M-toner: around 16 years but again it would lose it's charge by then.
At ten pages a month the Fuser will outlive him (probably about a 20K fuser)

Good choice, so long as you don't use it enough to ever have to replace the ink... (the cartdriges are more expensive than the printer) ...

This will suit your needs. I personally guarantee that you won't get more then 10 pages a month from it. And it certainly isn't overpowered.
