Apparantly you simply fail to understand that Thommy's criticism was based on the the fact that someone can buy an advantage in game with rl cash, and my answer on that was that this advantage already exists (in form of multiple accounts per person) and i therefore didn't ask for anything new concerning that buyable ingame advantage. You obviously lack the intelligence to grasp the statement of both of the posts, i feel deeply sorry for you.
-----
@ others: It was interesting to see that only a few brought the right arguements (that it is more difficult / stressfull to operate 2 clients, and a double damage option would be more common compared to managing 2 characters, so that this phenomenon of buying an advantage might get out of hand). And so far only very few managed to get the idea behind of this thread: it was meant as criticism of the fact that people can buy themselves to superiority multiple times, by being present at a battle with several characters. There are many missionrunners using multiple accounts, gaining more isk than someone with only one account. I personally met someone who uses 3 characters in ravens for highsec suicide ganks. In many games this isn't allowed, but in EVE it seems to be ok, noone cares. Yut everyone starts to scream if i asked for a little altered version of this phenomena, that doesn't give a substantial extra, but shows it's true face.
I thought the intention of criticism should be obvious for many, but unfortunately the majority doesn't get this and prefers to give the usual insultive statements which then are even based on wrong arguements quite often .

Originally by: Yakia TovilToba Currently those who pay more can get an ingame advantage by playing on more than one account and therefore bringing more ships to a fight.
If someone for example has 2 accounts, he can fight with 2 ships, which means there's still one person playing, but with a double firepower.
Why do we have to create more lag to the system (additional ship) and don't go for a more sraight way: If someone pays double as much money, he may use new t3 ships/weapons, that deal double as much damage.
Thise way more of us might get the benefits of that option, since not everyone can run multiple clients without lag (old PCs / not everyone has multiple PCs). The advantage for those who pay more remains (almost) the same, it's just less lag and available to more people with weaker PCs.
you dont pvp much do you. the only time i really see two pvp chars being used by one person is tackling a capital thats about to get hot dropped, or scan/probe/scout ships.
its hard in a decent fight to pilot more than one ship, unlike ratting you can do both... so i guess your on the rats side then?
*edit*- oh and the dorks who take cans in high sec to gank someone and is interupted by a alt logistics ship doing 6k/ms in orbit. i take it you lost your ratting raven in such a manner.

And how many times did you meet someone in pvp and actually didn't notice that it's the same guy behind many accounts ? Not many name their characters like "X" and "X's alt" or Joe1, Joe2.
Quote:

It's just a matter of setup and a bit training. 2 larger ships on 2 clients in windowed mode (if your comp can handle this) aren't that hard. When i played online poker, it was hard to play more than one game in a window, you have to make fast decisions, calculate the odds etc, quite stressfull to play 2 windows. But after a while it wasn't a problem to play 4 games at once, having 4 tables at the screen - just a matter of training, you get used to it with time.
And just imagine the advantage: people play 300 mil isk for a 16,7% extra dps of a navy raven, compared to a standard raven. With a 2nd account you have 100% extra dps for less isk, you just have to klick a little more and pay more attention.

No, a second account will not do these things.
A second account with several months or years worth of skilltraining, with millions (or even billions) worth of ISK sunk into ships, mods, skill books, implants, etc. etc. etc. will do that. The cost is far higher than what you make it out to be, and what you suggest is equivalent to making a perfect (and continuously updating) copy of an account for a completely insignificant cost.

I like the idea.
But as you can see on the number of morons refusing to see past the smoke, it will never make it live as even the dimwits might possibly notice if you hit them with sufficiently huge hammer. As a substitute we present you with the wingman project and new memory settings, complete with somewhat subtle hints. We are sorry if you are not schizophrenic enough, we are working on it, soon you will learn to love roleplaying fleet.

If this was implemented, I'd immediately drop every other EVE project I had and take up suicide ganking. I mean, it can already be done almost for free.. And with this idea, you'd only need half the manpower as well
Likewise, it would screw up all kinds of balance in the game. It might even become "Drakes Online" if this will make them deal enough damage to take down a ship.. I can see fleets of nbertanked Drakes roaming the skies already
And finally: /hug

Edited by: Willow Whisp on 18/07/2008 14:14:24 I support this idea.
That way, those that have more IRL money to afford better computers, can run 2x dual firepower accounts at once, bringing 4x the firepower. Then, those that can only afford to run 1x account on the same computer at a time, or cannot afford a 2nd account, will be even more hosed. If fact, i suggest a TRIPLE PAY option. Your idea obviously is geared toward those who have more IRL money, so they more you pay, and the more accounts you can run simultaneously, the more firepower you have. Imagine a gang of only 4 BSes, but each of them does TRIPLE DAMAGE!. That's like bringing a gang of 12, but with only 4x ships to manage and keep track of. -- this is my sig. |
