Hello all, I have decided on a "fun" battlecruiser to PVP in and to throw away my ISK on. I have plenty to support it, and no, I didn't buy it. Keep in mind, this is in a fleet in 0.0, I don't particularly want to nano it, and I can't use t2 weapons. Effectiveness is not something I care about; I have a fleet BS for that. So, I've come down to: Cyclone Hurricane Harbinger Brutix Ferox I only have good skills for the Brutix and Harbinger, BUT I don't especially care about skilling up. Once again, I know I could just "use XXXX ship you noob" but I would like a fit and a choice.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation, Jenna Sky.

Hmm... 0.0 fleet, no nano ? So... that would make short-range fits mostly useless, and you're left with either long-range sniper (but no T2 weapons means it would kind of suck) or uber-hitpoints plus remote repair or somesuch, right ? I'd say go with the one of the BCs you can fly and you haven't listed... Myrmidon (for the dronebay) or Drake (for the hitpoints and half-decent DPS at range). You could fly a heavy beam plated harbinger, but it will be really, really "meh" (not to say insanely hard to properly fit). Even a rail ferox, just maybe ?
Seriously, I have no clue. A little bit more details about the fleet you want to use it in ? What would be its purpose, who would you fly with, etc ?

So you want a BC that's not really effective, not nano, not t2, and you don't want to skill for it. You have a battleship but don't want to use it.
What DO you want it to do?

No, Astro, you misunderstand me. I don't mind that it's effective, but it's not necessary. If nano is necessary, I'll go along with it, I suppose, if it means it'll be fun, but I would prefer a non nanoed setup. T2 would be okay, but I don't have the skills for it yet for most ships. Skilling for it is fine, as I said here: "I only have good skills for the Brutix and Harbinger, BUT I don't especially care about skilling up." I should have said "I don't mind skilling up." Anyway, hope that answers your questions.

Do you mean fleet-fleet? Like 150km battleship sniping fleet? or do you mean gang? If fleet fleet, a sniper such as the ferox, or anti support harby or cane would do. For a gang, whatever you prefer.

Harbinger/Brutix/Ferox/Hurricane with long-range turrets. Fit for range and tracking (but no tech 2 sniping ammo, cause it kills tracking).

Edited by: Rajere on 21/07/2008 13:39:48 Well if your "fleet in 0.0" is letting you bring some t1 fit "fun" bc then I have to assume it's more like a small roaming gang thing, and not 100man sniper bs + support gang thing.
for throwing away isk, gank brutix. fit t2 guns and dmg mods though, can T1 the rest. Nothing is more fun than 7 Heavy Neutron blaster IIs on a double webbed target inside your optimal range. NOTR How to Fail at Eve

I would prefer the Cyclone to the Hurricane for fun. Hurricane can do more damage but you have to get in close and concentrate. Cyclone is more of a gun ship and you can just hang out with the main body of the fleet and inflict hurt from a distance. -- (Sarcastic mission running veteran, 4+ years)

I once saw a nano ham drake. I'll bet it surprised the hell out of the guy in the belt getting attacked.
I'm basing the assumption it was nanoed off the fact that it was hitting 2.5km/s. . .

You can nano a so-so hurricane, the others not so much. __________________________________________________

A buffer tanked HAM drake can be quite effective. Even with just 2-3 LSEIIs/Hardeners the Drake has a pretty good tank (for a battlecruiser) and that leaves 1-2 utility mid-slot (after 3 slot tank+MWD+WD) and 4 lows. Devote 2-3 of those low-slots to BCUs (preferably 3) and the drake can deliver a decent amount of damage. Especially if you use faction terror assault missiles.
It's the shield power relays that makes the Drake useless for PvP. ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. It's given freely, and only grudgingly retracted when necessary. |

I've run up against I guy who liked his nano-Canes a couple of times. He fit for shield buffer and speed, and included a web so, the first time, he was able to counterweb me and break my Drake's tackle just as he entered hull. I got him the second time, though.

our corp used to do "nano-bcs" back in the day. This was a couple of years ago, before people fit polycarbs on everything and "nano" simply meant being able to hit 2-3k and have the possibility to bug out if the fight wasn't going your way. NOTR How to Fail at Eve
