I recently got WC (Gurista/Serpentis) level 4, and do to the fact that I love the mission/bounties, I am goign to farm it all week.
I was curious as to the nature of the overseers.
Does anyone know if they can spawn only once per day, and that's it? Or do they continue to have their chance of respawning throughout the day?

I had a serpentis overseer the other day and it dropped nothing, literally. I've done the mission many times and only seen that one overseer. Ripped.

Now in WC the overseer is 90% of the time (if not more) a normal BS (bounty range from 375k to 1.2m ISK) with the name 'overseer'. But it's not the faction spawn ppl refering to, just a 'fake'.
The REAL overseen who has a chance to drop faction mod has a bounty of 3 or 4m ISK (also, real Overseer ALWAYS drop a tag + faction ammo).
It's true the Serpentis one apear far more often than the Guristas one (Guristas Overseer is very rare in WC) but last week ive got 1 .. with 375k bounty
My 2 cents -------------------------------------
NO I'M NOT AN ALT ! Yea, let's talk about my bad pick in the name's bag |

I have done WC many - many times, almost always the overseers is there on the Serpentis side, and i have never found anything worth remembering. That's the bad part... the good part, is that overseers, never aggros... so it's a free 0,5 million, once you clean everything else... plus the usual loot for the size of the ship...

There are 3 types of overseer, one is a regular mission BS (Core Flotilla Admiral iirc) renamed, the other is a booby prize pseudofaction spawn renamed (Shadow Core something), the third, and rarest is a true commander spawn renamed (Shadow Serpentis Commodore). You can tell which one you've gotten by the bounty amount, or by displaying the "Type" column in your overview. I've gotten all 3 types (as well as none at all), although I've only seen the shadow serpentis once and shadow core twice.

Edited by: Rashmika Clavain on 29/07/2008 10:33:59 On WC for Serps/Guristas, I've only seen faction loot in the second Serpentis pocket where the Serpentis Battlestation is. If you're lucky, an Overseer will spawn. If you're even luckier, he will have a 3m~ ISK bounty.
If he has the high bounty, then it is the faction drop. I've only ever seen him twice, however I've only ever tried farming it once (last week, where I saw him spawn once out of seven DT refreshes).
The first time he dropped: Shadow Serpentis POS module BPC Shadow Serpentis 26km scrambler
the second time he dropped: Shadow Serpentis Energised Thermic membrane
Due to the high bounties, loot qulity (lots of large turrets) and salvage, I will be farming this every time I get it... at leats until CCP nerf it

I have seen the overseer in both sides of guristas/serpentis and also angel/sansha. Last week for the first and only time I got the overseer in both the angel and sansha side. Double overseers and no faction loot at all (the angel wreck was empty) and no t2 rig bits. Was still cool to get 2 though!

that happened to me as well - got back to loot the pocket and the overseer was there, thought OMG, but the bounty was about 900k and it just dropped normal stuff - I keep hoping I'll get one of the high bounty ones soon.

I've seen the Overseers twice, i think.
First was 8.5 mill bounty and dropped a faction POS BPC that sold for 750 mill . Second was 4-ish mill and dropped a snake implant.
I think it was Serps both times, but it was in august last year, so not sure I'm remembering correctly.

is there a proven way to make the overseer spawn? or is it purely chance based?

On the side that isn't the same faction as found in the last room it's a random timer for when it will spawn. People will sometimes say you have to leave the room, but I've gone afk in the room to test this and it has spawned without me ever leaving it. When I do WC I usually take the off faction side first. In the second room I only kill the rats that attack me, then move on to the last room and clear it. I find 90% of the time the overseer is there when I get back to the second room (no looting/salvaging first and not doing the other side yet).
As for the side with the faction you find in the last room, I've never gotten an overseer there so I have no idea about the chance or trigger for it.

I have encountered a overseer in Amarr space in the Angles room that dropped faction gear once, very uncommon though.

I have an impression that there is propability for overseer to spawn every time some entity warps into second stage. As I run dual account (and sometimes drag other people with me when they are in need of standings) then I have noticed over the time, that even if there is no overseer present it tends to spawn when my second (or sometimes third or fourth) entity comes into stage.
Take it with grain of salt tho, as I have not been keepoing eye out for that extra. Just been noticing that he appears usually at the same time as someone warps to that stage. Once or twice it has appeared even when salvage ship comes in after me to clear the second stage while I go for the last one so nowdays I usually wait for salvage ship to warp to that stage to be able to take out overseer should he spawn when salvage ship comes in.

interesting stuff guys.
i also noticed while warping in (usualy smaller ships that align quicker) that chances of getting a spawn is bigger so there might be that the chance of an overseer is related to the time it takes you to enter the second room. (maybe ppl that do the mission in smaller ships can confirm this)

I had a Sansha overseer last week with a 5mil bounty, dropped a 3 run True Sansha large Pulse Laser Battery BPC and a True Sansha Warp Scrambler.
Only tow of us in mission - and I didnt actually spot him first.
Funny thing is, we had cleared out the Angels side and werent even going to do the Sanshas side, but figured WTH

Does the overseer only spawn on a certain side? ie only on the side with the same faction as final room?

lets stop freaking out and posting totaly off the wall crap.
The serpentis overseer spawns after some amount of time in the room with the battle station on the serpentis side. Like the above guide says, just do the mission and then return to the room and he will probably be there.
I assume that if the guristas one spawns instead he works the same way. Just check both rooms after killing everything (or if you're not completing the mission just the handfull of things that aggro you in the final room).
Again, the simple thing is to kill everything, or everything just short of completing the mission, and then returning to the initial room for each faction. So far it has been there 100% of the time for me though I have only gotten the cheap spawns.

as an update, did this earlier. Guristas in final room.
Cleared Serp side, cleared final room, cleared guristas room.
Went back to serp side and overseer was there, so off faction side. Only 1m bounty and nothing worth looting.
