I like to fight 1v1 in my Raven, the only problem is when i get the upper hand, the other ship runs.
I'd like an ideas on a setup that lets me scramble the enemy and still be able to win...
currently im using
6 x heavy launchers (i have lvl 3 cruise missile, so torps or cruise?) 2 x 425's
XL booster Sheild Amp Knetic, heat and emp wards 20km warp disrupter 4 x power diags cpu
Any ideas on how to improve?

Yeah. Scrap the Powerdiags and the CPU and put in 5 CPRs instead. Personally, I'd use a completely different setup though

This seems to be a standard set up for the Raven 2 turrets and 6 launchers. Is that always the best or does anyone have much success with a 4/4 split? -----------------------------

4/4's a nice combination too, especially if you're planning to engage in fleet combat or fight in roidfields (Yarr!Yarr!).

Although this will change with new patch perhaps you could use armor repairer/s hardeners in lows, mwd, heavy cap booster, 2x 7.5 warp scrambler's, web and cap rcharger 2 in mids. In the highs perhaps 2 blasters and 6 heavy laucnhers. Much easier to keep people scrabled with -4 to their warp scrable strength...

I fought a scorp the other day, had to stay within 20km to keep it scrambled, it wasnt nice.. Thats with the top set up.. thats why im asking.. ---------------------------

Edited by: Morrigan Illithan on 28/05/2004 13:25:48 I run my Raven as follows:
2x dual 250mm's 6x heavy launchers (lvl 4 cruise missiles)
Large shield booster EM and Thermail Hardners 2 x Supplimental Sensor Boosters 20km Warp Disrupter
3x Warp Stabilzers 2x Gravimetric Backup arrays (the +4 type)
It seems to work fairly well, yeah ships do get away from time to time but I find many pilots not running warp stabilzers these days, simply tanking armor for the long fight.
edit - and oh yeah the dual 250's work a lot nicer closer in. not as much punch but more hits. i only really consider them back up weapons anyway

High: 6x Siege launcher nothing in the other 2 high slots Medium: 1x Xlarge shield booster, 1x emp and 1x thermal hardener, 1x multi hardener, 1x sensor booster, 1x shield amp Low: 2x overdrive injector I, 3x ballistic control I
This is a long range setup which works very good at ranges between 50km and 100km. The overdrives let you keep the range, 6 Siege launcher with torps and 3x ballistic control I mods give you enough dmg to kill even the best tanked apoc. Sensor booster helps you in case you get dampened and always carry fof's if you get target jammed. Btw engage the multi hardener only if the enemy is using missiles and switch it on and off since missile user often change their ammo type (this way you confuse them). Anyway you may even want to swap that module for another sensor booster
The shield booster + hardeners are enough defence to stay alive at those ranges vs every gunship only problem would be another raven pilot in which case it would be a draw since you spam defenders en masse.
btw one torp does about 250dmg even if the enemy is using hardeners (600dmg without hardeners)
PS: yep I do not use cpr's or pdu's Greetings Grim |

Ravens are bad at long range fighting if they use the 6 launcher, 2 turret setup. They get a little better when using 4 launcher, 4 turret setup for long range combat.
The Raven is difficult to setup because it can be jammed easly and it is hard to keep an enemy from flying away when you engage 1v1.
For solo i think 4 turrets / 4 launchers Med slots go for a nice named shield booster such as a c5 large. sensor booster, warp srabler, and some shild hardners. Low use a turret damage mod, two warp core stabs, two power diags.
With this setup you can contribute equally to both fleet and solo operations with some success. It is just hard to shield tank a raven and fly solo, and it's about impossible to armor tank a raven (due to cpu issues).
Best setup would be to have a black bird fly wing for you and let htem do all the jamming.

Well to be quite honest... if you do a 4/4 split... you might as well scrap the raven and go with typhoon. Its cheaper and does that better imo. -----

My setups work pretty well in 1vs1 situations and in fleet.
Highs: 2x1400 2xsiege 4xH-50's Meds 1xHCB with "800" charges, Em,ther hard XL,Shield amp 20k disuptor Lows 5 PWD
works pretty good but remember to load ur 800 charges before undocking --------------

I run a 4/4 setup on my Raven simply because I can do instant amage with the guns, missiles work much better as a secondary weapon in my experience. When I was a Raven n00b I went for the 6 launchers but after doing virtually no damage to anything I switched to 4 guns/4 launchers just to do damage. I don't do alot of 1v1 fighting with it though, most all of the fighting I do is in groups. But I have been very happy with the 4/4 setup, with BS lvl 4 you can fire a cruise missle about every 2 seconds using heavy launchers, thats plenty of damage, nice thing about the 4 guns is that they don't hit gates on jump-ins like missiles do. I highly suggest the 4/4 setup, it's much more effective at long range since the missiles rarely hit.
The warp disruptor is a good idea, I always keep one of those fitted. Im not really sure how people are escaping you if you have that, if they have a stab they probably have 2 or more. So for bs hunting I'd stick with a 20km just because it's hard to chase someone with a Raven due to it's speed.
Take those diags off, they are worthless, fit CPRs instead, it's the only thing that will give you enough cap to stay alive. For post-CPR nerf shield tanks I really don't know, maybe someone else can help you there.
