I'm not definite sure why the Crow seems to be more popular than a Raptor nowadays. My only explanation is Crow's range and lack of tracking issues due to standard lanchers?
If this is the reason: when the speed nerf hits as described in dev blog...things could change maybe? The Raptor does twice the damage, has a disruptor/scram bonus (important these days), has a bit more EHP and does 2300 m/s fitted with AB II and Polycarbons. I think it will be much faster after the patch...
By using an AB instead of a MWD it'll be invulnerable to scrams and can deal damage in a tight orbit.
What do you think?

Well, right now it's less popular because compared to the Crow it's slower, doesn't lock as far, does less damage at range and uses cap to fire its weapons.

The crow won't stop being popular, as this is the popular way to fly it
1. MWD on 2. Set orbit 3. 24km Warp Disruptor on 4. F1-F3 5. AFK __________________________________________________

Stiletto versus Claw, the Stiletto has superior targeting range and is used for tackling, where the claw is a suicide web ship at best. It's the same thing for a Crow and Raptor, and it's first due to targeting range, second due to the ability to hit your enemy at 24km out unlike most other intys. But seriously, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post. |

The only advantage the Raptor has is the range bonus to points, thats about it. If you fit it as a pure tackler it is okay, but thats it. Its powergrid SUCKS.

You don't think that 1.5km/s less speed and scramblers turning off your MWD hurts that strategy just a little bit?

This. giving it a 3rd turret then nerfing it's PG into the ground was a cruel joke at best. ________________________________________________

I'm thinking that he isn't thinking;
But I will bet that the tackle indy will do fine in this new nano world but the days of solo crow kills will be over for the most part.
I will miss flying by hand in and out of the roid fields at 6K+ while staying within 25 of my target.

Oh no, don't tell me that. My evasive man. V is about to pop in a day. The Crow was gonna be my first T2 ship. Well, I'll try to make the best of it, it's still hard to tell how the "nerf" will affect things.

The Raptor did not gain anything in this patch. Fast ships are slower, slow fast ships (like the Raptor) are even slower. Thats before you mention its bad lock range and loltastic powergrid.
If you even try to mention blasters, a Taranis / Malediction / Crusader will appear behind you and eat your soul.
The only advantage a Raptor has is being remarkably closely priced to a Condor for a T2 ship.

My crow did not lose a single meter/s of speed after the patch. I'll continue to fly and dominate wondering why everyone is so upset. Try not having a single nano? Yeah. |

If the ship you tackled has a magic 24km scramble, yes
