Along the lines of the 'fastest ship in the game' thread, I'm wondering what kind of ships/loadouts yield the fastest speed which can be maintained indefinitely - that is, your cap recharges fast enough that you never run out. Cap boost mods don't count, since you'll run out of charges.. I'm talking, let it run unattended til downtime kind of maintainability.
I'm sure the 1st prize will be an interceptor, but in the non-elite-frig dept I'm using a Vigil with 1 standard 1mn mwd, 2 standard 1mn ABs and 3 cap power relays (skills: min frig 4, nav 5, nrg sys op 3, nrg mgt 4, ab 4, acc ctrl 3, high spd mnv 2) .. with this setup I can maintain 5,238 m/s forever.

im close to this, i have energy systems op 4 and high speed man 4, nav 4.
I can only mantain 1 mwd and 1 ab for about 4 min. ----------------------

not sure if it possible to keep it running forever because i have the needed skills not maxed but should be close (fire the mwds with 5s delay) vigil med: 2x mwd 1x hi named small cap battery low 1x micro aux 2x cpr

And 4500m/s sustainable .....for ever...and ever and ever seems fast enuf to me

I have a ship I can maintain 28km/sec with forever. No big secret really, but anxious to see who else is doing it... or doing better.

I can maintain a speed of about 17km/s on my crusader

How are the 2 above posts maintaning such a higher speed than the others? I can 'blip' my Vigil to 23k but only maintain about 2.5k
Also, perhaps expanding slightly, what modules would be best to enhance so that the ship could not be caught or destroyed or does the speed make this less likely?

It's quite simple...2 MWD's 4 cap relays. And some nice engineering and Nav skills.

It's quite simple...2 MWD's 4 cap relays. And some nice engineering and Nav skills.
I had a Claw and the 4 relays do a great job but I thought it ended up depleting after a couple of minutes. Maybe I'm mistaken.

I would have to say the Claw
Which is also the best gate ramming ship in the game. Due to it's EXTREMELY low signature radius
