EDIT: Not that I got a problem with you choosing the risk, you should just know of it. So an options to remember the PW is fair .

Actually...
Once upon a time, there was an option to save passwords. And then someone hacked the system, and was able to get into a ton of accounts by accessing that cookie that had everyone's user name and password.
So then CCP took away the checkbox, but left the code still embedded. You could get into your settings, and change a line in order to make it retain your password still. But people still had their accounts broken into.
So recently (not sure how recent, mind you) CCP changed their code to completely elliminate the option.
Obviously people can't be trusted not to abuse one another... which isn't surprising when we see that Eve encourages Gate Camps, Suicide Ganks, Can Flipping, Bait Canning, etc.
While you may think it's a nifty idea... realize that CCP is saving you from yourself, and others. --- Don't take my ranting personally. I may just be arguing the topic, unless you're saying something stupid, and then I mean every word. "Players don't want Variety. They want THE BEST" |

But don't you know, 'hackers are the last bastion of freedom of speech and expression in America'.
Yeah, EvE is a game that is based on the principles that morals are a personal choice, and aren't universally applicable. It's no wonder that accounts get stolen and whatnot. The people who that portion of the game appeal to most have no real qualm with theft and violence, as long as it can be logically excused.

Edited by: NerfMyBarge on 01/08/2008 19:53:25 It is possible to store passwords (clientside) safely. There is always a theoretical risk but for example linux have very secure way to dealing with passwords - I'd say unhackable but with proper firewall/antivirus and a brain it'd be way harder then putting in a keylogger anyway..
