Hey guys, you lot would know were to look I think, looking to modify ship skins client side, nothing to drastic, I am guessing they run a consistancy cheak though?,
looking into makeing some more WW2 bomber plane nose art for my ships would be nice to acctuly have them in game.
I have heavyly modifyed most to every game I have ever played be it for looks, a new dimention, more terrain, new maps. which is why I am not a console fan, although consoles are getting there. But have never modifyed my MMO's you see I am still a relatively new char here, and before this I spent 4 years on wow, a art form that didnt take my intrest in modifying, how ever I did create a few peices in wow esk likeness, in my trusty maya program, for that art comp they ran a while back, any ways getting off topic.
The point is. is there anyway to pop the eve files open take out the texture's alter them see how they look on the models pop them back in and still play my fun loving eve.
Without absoulty breaking the TOS and having to rip eve apart completely to set up and run a illegal server.
remebers that you could get a nude skin for your chars on wow
"note i use classic client still, i like the dirty feel".

Edited by: Ambo on 03/08/2008 08:11:02 I'm fairly sure you can get the textures and models out and edit them. I've sure I've seen threads where it's been done in the past.
Putting them back into the game though? No way. It would never pass the security checks.
Edit: take a look at Tri-exporter

You are not allowed to modify the client in anyway, so any attempt to do what you are describing would violate the ToS and EULA.
However, if you just want to make some fun desktop pictures or something like that, check out the TriExporter linked to by the previous poster.

Eve you can't modifiy the client interface or mod it in any way, it means you can't do fairly 'harmless' things like this, but it also means that it's harder to cheat / macro etc and everyone deals with the same handicaps etc.
You can certainly export the models and play around with them outside eve, you just can't EULA legally put them back. Not sure if it's actually possible or not, but trying is probably not the safest thing you could do.

Bear in mind that the client does a checksum every time it runs, so it's pretty impossible to connect using a modified client, unless your textures are exactly of the same size as the originals.
