Edited by: So''Jo on 06/08/2008 06:28:45 Well, I finished up my Recon training a few months ago, then I moved into Vaga's and am currently in the works towards a Sleipner. Down to a little over a month before I have my needed skills plus extras bumped to the level 4's I'd be happy with taking one out of a hanger with.
Question is, it seems like all the ships I have trained for are about to get an overhaul-Recons, Vagas, and CS's and I was wondering if it would be a better move to head into the route of BS's and start training my Large Proj. to specialization and look for ships later down the BS V route instead of working on my V's for my CS? I want to have a a mainly solo ship, 0.0 ratting and level 4's and when the opportunity arises be able to throw a little dirt back in the face of those that want to PvP (or at least get the hell out). I really haven't paid alot of attention to the the patch coming up so I don't know all the nerfs/boost for the ships mentioned above but just wanted to get some like-minded pilot ideas on a route to take.
I enjoy a faster, medium sized ship (BS bore the hell out of me in a turn and I'm low on BS extra spec. skills) and those ships that have a pretty decent chance against the majority PvP ships that come around Solo or small gang. But if the BS path are going to be more beneficial overall I'd like to have some input from experienced pilots and those in the know if thats a better route to take. Rather not hear about sky is falling stuff just some overviews as I have never stepped foot in a properly skilled BS or CS or nono-HAC for that matter
Edit: Basically, would I be better off spending the next few months specializing in the Sleipner or say a Typhoon post nerf for a ship that can handle itself PvP wise (small group/Solo), 0.0 ratting and Lvl4's (not a huge deal) with all the new changes to missiles, speed and ships? |

I'd recommend going the BS route. Mainly due to insurable hulls. With the nanonerf still being tested, its up in the air how the Minnie BS's and CS's will be affected. -

Yeah, didn't really contemplate the monetary aspects. But lets say isk isn't the problem, lol even though it usually is But i figure after months of training I have time to build some isk while ratting and missioning for a couple of Sleips.
Also, now that you mentioned money, should I buy a Sleipner or an extra Typhoon/Mael and the CS book now (if I go that route) before prices jump or drop after or before the patch? Would be nice to save a bit.

Minmatar BS are still nice ships, so I recommend training their skills up. Large Projectile T2, BS Skill to 4, Missile Skills for the Typhoon.
I would go to BS before even considering CS.

I agree with the other go for BS first, or if you got great support skills but lack the BS weapon skills go CS.

Sorry if I was unclear above. Meant my specialization skills were not met for BS such as Large Proj. Spec. and Cruise/Torp missle specializations. My medium Proj are both specialized and my HAC and heavy are as well. My leadership is good except for specilization in Siege and Skirmish but I have WC IV just not Fleet as of yet. I'll be able to fly a CS as soon as WarLink Spec. is finished. As far as general support skills I think I'm in the same ballpark for both CS or BS, sitting at 12mil atm only though.
I was really just wanting to know if I should drop my skillplan from CS to BS seeing how missles, speed and ships are being reworked.

Yeah thats what I was thinking 'cept it looks like BS are going to be more in demand and able to be a bit more versatile as far as 0.0/4's and PvP is concerned. And I never flown a CS for comparisions sake

err....just how are CS's getting nerfed....:S
both sleipnir and claymore has the best active tanks in the game.... if you nano it....well...thats definitively NOT how they should be flown. -sig-

There are more things you should consider. Are you using Field, or Fleet command ships ? When you get your CS skill to level V, then it is easy to jump from Sleipnir to Claymore and have nice bonuses. Also having CSs at high level, it is easier to change race to another. If you skill up BS to level V it won't be useful for anything else.
So overally I think that comming speed nerf (which will hit mostly Minmatar), will affect you more if you'll go for BS skills.
