Just had to make a positive posts amongst all of the whiner posts around here lately. Not everyone hates you or are ungrateful little shits, CCP. There are those, like myself, who have a huge amount of respect for you and what you've created and will continue to create in the future. The whines really are coming from just a small, obnoxiously vocal, minority. Most of us love what you're doing!

Of course every high sec caldari mission runner loves being able to grind in a safe zone. Nobody is surprised about that.
What I am surprised about is that CCP seems to share this vision of completely safe high sec Eve all of a sudden. Why not just pop up a dialog box with "You cant do that" when trying to attack someone in high sec? You are already half way there.

Yes. Obnoxious is the key word. Some would also describe it as a *stench* that is pervading this forum at the moment.
People! Come to yourselves. This is a game! It is supposed to be fun.

We loved the "sandbox" aspect of the game, which meant you could use the game mechanics to benefit you whether or not it harmed someone else.
Protecting assets was to primarily be your own business, not the business of an instant, invincible, NPC army that automatically and unstoppably kills anyone who attacks...
Only a carebear could whine about being unsafe when they have an INVINCIBLE NPC POLICE FORCE THAT KILLS ANYONE WHO FIRES A SHOT AT THEM.
I'd like some "CONCORD Drones" so that I, too, may instantly slay my enemies and whine about being underpowered .
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But back on point: The vision of EVE is fading. Not instantly, and not "oh god the sky is falling" from one patch.. but from many patches. Highsec is already too safe. There is minimal risk unless you afk in a tech1 hauler, or a faction fit battleship. And yet, this is still too much risk!
CONCORD should be possible to evade. Make highsec piracy a viable tactic, not a suicide run, then consider removing the insurance.
Otherwise, we can all pretend to be skilled internet spaceship pilots, making a difference by running level 4 missions all day and crying when we have to fight an enemy that knows how to do more than orbit slowly and shoot while your missiles kill them. |

Atrei Capital, totally off-topic...but that's what 0.0 is for: total and utter danger! If you don't like the "carebear" nature of highsec space, then don't visit it.

Stock Response:
*Sec Status Hit: Only occurs to one person even if a dozen are involved in the gank. Increasing this by a maximum of 10% (+5 sec stat vs. -5 set stat) will affect solo gankers a little, but not very much.
*Improved CONCORD response time: Will force players, in some instances, to upgrade to a larger ship, bring a friend, or fit a few T2 modules (cheaper than going from BC to BS)
*Sec Status Hit Based on System Security: Ganking becomes easier to sustain in lower sec systems and harder in higher-sec systems.
*No Insurance payout: Using a BC to suicide gank someone will now cost you $20 million ISK, not $5 million ISK. This will hurt your ability to profit from low-value targets, and such as someone who carries 50 million ISK of goods in a T1 hauler. It will also raise the bar for the minimum value of freighters to about 1.8 billion ISK (guessing) to be worthy of a suicide gank. However, it won't affect those who do things like carry blueprints in shuttles or officer modules in...well, anything. Profit will still be huge even after insurance payouts. This will also have no effect on suicide ganking mission runners as those worth ganking (officer/deadspace/faction fit) will still be very profitable. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

I don't, often. Incidentally, most of the game is cowering there.
0.0 is full of politics. Fun, but not in the same sense.
Lowsec is full of nothing.
Then, you have people in NPC corps, telling new players that you'll get ganked as soon as you leave highsec. Or that mining veldspar is more profitable than mining Bistot, Arkonor, Crokite... and besides, you lose a barge every 30 minutes in 0.0 anyway! |

No, for so many reasons that it would take a thread to post them all. It's a theme park, not a playground like Eve is. It's sharded. The graphics are pretty tired looking. It's fantasy, not sci-fi. It doesn't have as superb of a development house behind it. You as a player have zero effect on the game's lore and future. And on, and on, and on.

"Disappointed with CCP" right now would more accurately reflect my state of mind.
Will this "kill EvE"? No, of course not. But it's a step in the wrong direction, both in game philosophy and community management.
In one sense, I'll be fine. I can make ISk to buy PvP ships with my mission-fit CNR using even less attention than before; no more worrying if that frigate outside the station is running a passive targeter and a ship scanner (my cheap-as-chips faction fit was barely worth ganking for before; after this change it'll be basically immune unless someone wants to gank me for non-fiscal reasons).
But for the love of god, that little moment of tension and apprehension was the ONLY excitement that missioning provided. My CNR is always optimally fitted; I've done all the missions 50-200x over, I know exactly what to do. The only time I'm in the least danger is when I'm thoroughly drunk. And even then I rarely take more than half armour damage. It's something I put up with for a couple of days a month.

Really? I think we define 'optimal' in respect to missionfits quite differently, as you'd need at least two CNR's to always have an optimal fit, unless you change rigs in between missions, which isn't really cost effective. But you used CNR in singular form...

In the sense of it being a singular one, it always has the exact best combination of hardeners, and the ammo required to do the most DPS.
It's about as exciting as mining, except that I have to pay marginally more attention every now and then, and the mining barge raven navy issue is a bit more expensive than a hulk.

As with everything else in Eve, missioning is what you make of it. I still find interest in setting new personal records, and the funny thing is that even after millions of LP I still find some tweak or some method I haven't fully explored to eke out a new pb every now and then. It's just too bad there's no timing or ranking system for it, so I could shoot for WR's instead of PB's.
Optimal fit to me is the fit that completes the mission the absolute fastest.
I've said it many times. Missioning is a game of efficiency, not pew pew. It's not for everyone.
