it seems that eve is going from a "sandbox" to a "padded room"
freedom to commit crimes and take the puishment is a fundamental part of eve, BUT the punishment must relate to the crime
punishing people for suiciding based on the security status of the system is just plain stupid, and smacks of CCP abandoning its original vision for eve
Devs of CCP have the brass balls to stad by your original vision otherwise you will lose any credability you have left
But it's going to, criminals will now have a much harder time to come clean from their actions and lawabiding citizens will take less of a security hit shooting them, how is that not balanced in the crime vs punishment scales?
Should/would/could have, HAVE you chav!

I'm a bit baffled by some of the unintelligent replies in this thread, especially the one about Mu being in an npc corp, therefore his opinion isn't valid. That's plain ridiculous. I could just as easily invalidate your opinion because of your country of origin if I really was thick-headed like that.
I've been a corp with Mu in 2 corporations over the past 6 months, and he is an excellent pilot and pvp fighter. His opinions are quite valid.
It was a good run flying with you. Take care in your endeavors and stay in touch.

i fully agree with the OP. its not about nerfs or balance, its about the integrity of the company that runs the game.
I kinda like this new patch tho, because it will have the sideffect of driving the market prices of everything through the floor. I wonder if they even consulted their economic advisor about the possible reprocussions of removing this player created loss from the game.

they're not stroppy they just have experience in more things than mission running and as such tend to be able to form better, an often much more coherent posts, it must be annoying to care about something, and enjoy being good at something that seems to be going downhill despite your best posting intentions, no?

i have determined a decent, accurate and fair way to chose my gank victims.. its quite obvious really!
Quality of Personal Bio
people gain points for interesting anecdotes people lose points for "your XXXX hits mission staionary object for XXXX"
people gain points for eve related content that may interest readers, or teach them something new people lose points for "guristas = xxx, sansha = xxx"
people gain points for general witty ramblings people lose points for "lulz youtube link lulz"
ETC

A better option to all of this would be to not change things to be more restrictive and messy.
Instead, change how insurance works.
Because, well, if you're parking your car in a bad area of town and it gets used as a makeshift bonfire, I *suspect* that the insurance company will be less willing to pay out for the damages. In real life they would drop you, but in EVE, there is only one insurance company, so that's not practical.
A solution for this would be, IMO, of course, to make your security level act as a multiplier for buying insurance. Obviously a criminal with a lot of DUIs and accidents on their record is going to pay a LOT to get insurance. If your sec status was low enough, you wouldn't be able to afford insurance - the cost would be too large of a percentage of the ship's value.
Say, each level of negative adds 5% to the cost of the insurance quote, with -10 sec status (mostly pirates and such) suffering a 50% surcharge for insurance.

not a bad idea, but really, not what the thread is about as such this is more of a rant at developers losing sight of what has attracted the long lasting players of eve to the game.
however feel free to start a topic on your idea it might spark off an intelligent discussion
oh wait..

So why is it that PvP'ers get to call the shots around here? Why is it that PvP'ers are the ones that are right? Why do PvP'ers get to dictate what is done with the game?
Is it because PvP'ers post? Does that get PvP'ers the right to say what and how something is done? There are more carebears in this game than there are PvP'ers, so why is it PvP'ers are the ones that call the shots around here?

have you been in eve recently? 0 Pvp friendly changes, the carebears are calling the shots on a regular basis, yes we need them in game, but we dont need the game to be built around their every need.

Aa know i know what a emo quit post from a 12 year old looks like .
So you say the changes dont really affect you or worry you but you are going to throw your barbie out your your pram and quit ?
you really dont make much sense and I get the distinct impression that you are not about to quit despite you stating that you are and simply stamping your feet and throwing a childish hissy fit , like the spoilt kids desperately after moms attention.
