Dear all,
Am looking for a tool or method to retrieve the locations of the offices of specific corporations. I.e., if I want to investigate GÇ£Corporation XGÇ¥ I would get a list of all their known offices (e.g., Jita IV GÇô Moon 4 GÇô Caldari Navy, GǪ etc). You guys might be able to tell me if there is a simple solution for this, or not.
1. The simple solution GÇô if it existsGǪ
The simple solution might be that one of you could build a small tool that does API inquiries on known corporations in Eve and returns their offices.
Or one of you might have alternative ideas on how to do this in a straightforward mannerGǪ
2. The complex solution GÇô if needed
However.. if the simple solution would not exist than we have to go for alternative solutions GÇô like crowd sourcing. Meaning that we offer Eve players an opportunity to report for a given solar system all corporate offices.
How would that work. We build a tool GÇ£Office finderGÇ¥ or something. I make available 2,5 mln per system explored and reported into the tool. Total cost to me 4,000 hisec systems x 2,5 mln = 8,000 million = 8 billion ISK. Assuming it takes 5 minutes to review one system guys can earn 30 mln per hour GÇô which is great for all beginning players.
The tool should make it easy to see which systems are not yet explored, and also some functionality for sniffing out those who are GÇÿimpreciseGÇÖ with the data they upload (e.g., hold the list of last known corporations from Eve-intel.com, enable reporting of mistakes leading to a rating per data provider GÇÿreliableGÇÖ GǪ GÇÿrubbish guyGÇÖ).
+ + +
What are your thoughts? Happy to pay some ISKies to one of you for helping me out.

Thought for a few minutes that the corporationsheet had offices but after a closer look it seems to only have the headquarter.
As for solution number two problem might not be initial cost but offices aren't static and for many corporations they change almost monthly, so after a month (or less) a significant amount of the data gathered would be incorrect and need updating.
Maybe instead of having someone sell office lists per system ask corporations submit a list of offices they intend to keep.

Corps will definitely help to make it easier to harass them.

Your right, the data will become outdated so we would have to add a date on which the info was gathered for a specific system.

Indeed - dont think corps that we arelooking for wil voluntarily provide such a list, otherwise, why not just ask them. The aim is intel on corps - like www.eve-intel.com is providing (though they provide members, not offices)

Like you say the only reason I see here for this sort of database would be for wardeccers and since no api exists to verify the data you would have to rely on submissions.
and what stops corporate officers to overwrite correct data with bogus data to lead potential agressors astray as well as just feeding false locations.
My personal opinion on this is sure why not but the task of maintaining a useable database compared to just thralling for a corporations active members through killboards and what not and using locator agents to hound them.
But Im only looking at it from a war perspective cant realy see many other uses. |
