bingo
Originally by: ArchenTheGreat You need more people like Lay Low guy. He says he tried to lead people few times and Hydra needs leaders. Several times during yesterday you had more numbers and much better ships than us and yet you didn't attack. Sure you will lose some but we will lose some too. I heard TRI pilots saying: should they attack now we would have problem.
bingo again
Originally by: ArchenTheGreat With every lost ship they will be better pilots.
This is more than true.
Originally by: ArchenTheGreat You can't train good pilots by sitting in POS or station. You must field ships. Do not afraid of fight.
You guys would seriously be suprised if you got it in your heads, that no matter what, once you undock that ship your in is already gone. After a while, you will be like "OMG I did THAT?!" and comming home in the same ship is just a bonus.
Originally by: ArchenTheGreat It's not a shame to lose.
Says you! Garmon would disapprove.
Originally by: Lucia Cruz It amazes me the amount of times people (the aggressors) come on to COAD to try and generate some kind of response from (the defenders) in order to fuel their quest for so called epic fights.
Breaking morale, being a donkey's rear end, and just plain bored since these guys don't undock.
In Vietnam during the war, there was a lady (I forget her name) but she used to say things about how the US couldn't win the war. How US troops were being killed by US weapons. The younger guys would freak out, break their morale, which took them out of the fight. You'd be suprised how many posts actually break the morale of an alliance.
Originally by: Lucia Cruz I never understand why the (the defenders) feel the need to give (the aggressors) what they want, and as a result encourage them to stay. ItÆs simple, just deny them what they want and (the aggressors) soon loose interestààeveryone knows its much more fun attacking on foreign soil than it is defending your own back yard.
To answer your question, it's somthing called pride.
As for getting bored, loosing interest? Yeah, getting bored and taking stations more like it.

Quote: This is a game about ships being blown to pieces. Hiding in a corner is not exactly playing a game, right?
In your narrow view all this game is about blowing up ships, and yes to a degree that is correct. But there is far more to this game than just shooting ships....
Quote: I never understand why the (the defenders) feel the need to give (the aggressors) what they want, and as a result encourage them to stay. ItÆs simple, just deny them what they want and (the aggressors) soon loose interestàà
Quote: And you will lose you stations.
And they either CHOOSE to defend, or just reclaim them when you move on to another target
Quote: everyone knows its much more fun attacking on foreign soil than it is defending your own back yard.
Quote: Oh really? I would say it may be fun in both ways. It depends on how much fun all those fights will give.
This comment it common for all players that play eve purely for pvp!
Quote: Insert any attacking alliance and defending alliance name in the brackets and this is true in every account!
Quote: Insert TRI as a defender and Roadkill as attacker and you have lots of fun on the TRI side. See, I just ruined your theory.
No, because you and I both know the vast majority of players in TRI are there for the pvp and relish fights regardless.....
Quote: Simply ask yourself 1 question, Does (the aggressor) want to actually claim your space? In most cases the answer is NO!
Quote: Most of TRI pilots don't care about Hydra space. But if Hydra will not defend it than we will take it anyway. Denying us fun fights won't save them.
Refer to the point above above

I noticed how you have not argued against the hypothesis I have written, which in itself makes me smile
You must be a Tri alt trying to get easy space or mass fire sales.Either that or your a leader of the NC bent on helping others fail too.Trying to convince these guys to hold out so you can get more of your stuff to empire before you get ass ****d by the opposition? That makes me smile.
You thinking I have a main in an alliance currently engaged in war, rather than the truth that infact I am actually a main character with a casual interest....makes me smile

I've had the pleasure of going to Hydra space a couple of times. I've never seen an Alliance to lack so much fight in them in my life. It's not so much that they suck, they do a bit, but I've had some semi decent fights up that way. The members and leadership seem to be struck with some sort of apathy, they have this 'I'm all right jack' attitude that is prevelant among a lot of the northern residents. Hangar queens only looking out for themselves, their rats and their ore. Alliance mate getting ganked on a gate? I'll just sit here and twirl my ship woooo. POS defence op? Nah, there's noone here two systems down to steal my triple spawns or this sweet mercoxit deposit.
Eve is a game where leaders have to be able to mobilise their troops and inspire them to fight. Morale and the will to fight means more in Eve than most MMOs. Hydra have never had much in terms of will, and they seem to be losing it every day. Assumption of Risk |

Lucia - I get what you mean, but there is 2 parts to this.
1. TRI just wanted a target. Being in Venal, Hydra was a close option, and MM/RZR were busy. We are already chastised and called BoB pets, so why jump in on that? We know MM/RZR can put out good pvp and they are fought daily during this campaign. TRI is opening up a second front in the NC conflict, and that's fun.
2. TRI wants some space, and if HYDRA don't defend theirs adequately, or TRI doesn't get steamrolled to Jita, it will gain some. Not saying we will hold it forever, not saying we will even get it, but that's they way things are.
Please, stop saying poor HYDRA. If you are a 0.0 alliance, and you hold space, you are fair game. They have had big brothers to help them in the past, this isn't fully the case now. This isn't good timing, this is part of a strategy. God forbid someone put some thought into their war...

Blowing ships is what moves EVE economy. Blowing ships is what this game is about.

If you don't like to pvp stay in hi-sec or better go to the WoW non-pvp server because even in hi-sec there is a pvp. 0.0 is for big boys with toys that can do harm.

At last someone who can actually have a decent conversation.
All of what you said makes perfect sense if indeed you are looking for a new home.
However my point is purely that I cannot understand people who pick potentially weaker targets or pick targets that do not get the same kicks out of PVP as others, come rushing to the forums with as I mentioned earlier "you suck" or "you fail" comments and honestly expect anything different.
And as far as Hydra is concerned, I have no business commenting on them or the performance of Hydra. My comments are generally applicable to most instances of PVP in eve nowadays unfortunately...

I have to agree with some: Hydra has added a lot to the game. It's gotten many pilots feet wet in 0.0 and it's given lots of folks a means to make income, make ships, sell ships... blah blah blah...
I've also often said that Hydra is completely incapable of defending it's own space. And I even said this when I was *in* hydra. Hydra's problem is not just lack of leaders though. It's lack of willing PVP'ers. You see, while Hydra has added a lot to the game by allowing pilots access to 0.0 and getting their feet wet in roaming gangs, etc. They are still, too this day, a very 'young' PVP crowd. Most good PVP'ers in hydra 'graduate' off to other, more pvp dedicated, alliances. Yes, Hydra has a small core of dedicated PVP'ers (and they know who they are... hi guys) who will form fleets, teach others how... etc etc... but the vast majority of hydra's members are 'carebears' still who are just starting to get into PVP.
Hydra's problems have always been twofold: 1) A lack of sufficient quality FC's that people trust and will follow 2) A lack of dedication amongst their members to follow the FC's REGARDLESS of it meaning loss of ship. Because of this plots don't x up unless there is a 'critical mass' of pilots already in a fleet because they don't feel they can win or be effective outnumbered or even with even forces in many cases.
Does this make Hydra a 'bad' alliance? No... they're an average alliance who knows their own limitations but they often sell themselves short. With their numbers they could easily just blob Tri to death most of the time but because their pilots have poor leadership (and poor followership) they rarely manage to get forces together to do so.
All of that said: Hydra has never claimed to be a PVP powerhouse. They've never even claimed that they're able to hold their space on their own. Most members of Hydra will willingly admit that they hold their space mostly because the NC supports them if things get too hot.

Thats the problem, i have been in some alliances with this kind of ppl, who wont fight for their turf, the end is always the same... It infuriate the ones who actualy fight for their turf, they loose ships while others are still making isk. Message to the PVPers, if your alliance mates dont risk their ships defending your space, leave now before you regret fighting for the carebears.
