For those of you who say it is...
It doesn't even make sense to talk about suicide gankers as "taking risks." In a single suicide gank, all of the losses are known - every ship participating in the gank. This happens 100% of the time with no variance. Thus, those losses are better thought of as an operating cost, sort of like the ammo you use up when you run missions.
The rewards might at first seem risky, since loot varies. However, as you gank more and more and more, your expected loot approaches 50% of whatever your target was carrying - riskless return.
The rewards will be high by defintion - suicide gankers will only gank those where the expected reward exceeds the cost of operations by a sufficient margin (a high one). The people flying badgers packed with T2 goods will continue to get ganked.

So kind of like high sec missioning, except that high sec ganking requires player interaction or multiple people working together.
You should try to read better, no one says that suicide ganking is risky, it is actually pretty dang boring and unless you get one of the super lucky autopilot dorks then it is not that profitable.
What people say is that high sec has more rewards and keeps getting less risk and if you decrease the risk then the rewards should be scaled accordingly. This makes sense in a EVE that claims to want to give people reasons to move into low sec/0.0 but the risk vs reward in high sec remains uncharacteristically out of proportion. --

Had a corpmate get ganked with around 40m worth of goods in an indy, not on auto pilot. THAT'S the problem. It was worth it for the insured T1 brutix, stupid as it sounds.
With this change, the profitability is moved to targets worth the gank, the T2 builders and faction fitted missionrunners aso. which is where it should be. Suicide ganking is good for the game, it will continue, but smalltime players will no longer be worth the effort and expense.
It'll be fun reading the first whine threads post nerf 'Nerf not working, i got ganked!!!11' and the obligatory 'CCP I want my 2b worth of stuff back or I'll cancel my 23 accounts!!'
