T1 Only ships I plan on entering losec with.
So you want security? That's perfectly alright. But you should be willing to trade freedom and profit for that security. |

1. Mainly T1 (occasionally T2 Frigates)
2. Yes
4. It's almost impossible to lose money on insurance unless your ship is alive for more than a year and being insured continually. So why not? ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

Edited by: Grim Mercy on 08/08/2008 17:33:06 1- Both 2- Mission ships, maybe. PvP ships, always (even t2, even though the payout sucks)
4(?)- If I plan on PvPing, I plan on losing the ship. Insurance is free money if you think about it like that. My premiums never go up for a poor driving record, and the payout is something like 3-1 odds on a sure bet. Even my mission ship... I like the security of having it insured to offset a possible loss, and depending on the ship (rigged or not) I will personally blow it up because the cost of a new ship + a new insurance contract (- the insurance payout) is far, far less than a new insurance contract on it's own. When you let an insurance contract lapse (and fully intend to keep an insured version of that ship around) you're basically losing the entire amount of your first insurance contrat.

1.) [T1] Too new to fly the others just yet. 2.) [N] 3.) I think this still needs an answer for objectivity. I wouldn't insure T2 ships either, as the use I have for ships is to make ISK. If that ship can make up the cost of the ship before an insurance policy is up, I see no reason to spend the extra money.
If I did more PvP - Because the insurance can not hope to cover all the modules I would use (lots of T2), I would never recover those loss enough to make it worth wild. Thus, I would fly cheaply (that which I can afford).

Edited by: Matalino on 08/08/2008 17:49:02 1) Both 2) No 3) The chance of me losing the ship in the next 3 months is almost non-existant
If there was even close to a 50% chance that I would lose the ship I would insure it, regardless of it being T1 or T2.
While you aren't going to replace your T2 ship using insurance, you still double whatever you paid for insurance if you lose the ship.
Insurance is basicly a matter of betting against your self: if you lose the ship within 3 months you profit whatever you paid for the extra insurance, if not then you are out the insurance premium.

1. Both 2. Some, not all 4. A ship is worth insuring ONCE if you're CERTAIN it's going to die. After that not really, since the cost of re-insuring a ship becomes prohibitive. Most of my hauler and mining ships have never been insured.

1. T1 2. Always 3. Lots of missions out of the Venilen area force me into Hysera, which is a lowsec .4 system, and I lose my ship usually once or twice a week to gatecampers. Insuring my ship lets me recoup about 60% of the cost of my ship when I lose it, so its a no-brainer. --- Oh hai. |

1. T1 2. No
1.T2 2.No
3. I can't see the point in doing so as it is rare that I die theese days, and if I do, I am not covered, so it is not worth it IMHO.

1. Do you fly mainly T1 or T2 ships? Combination of both. I fly large T1 when I plan on dying and want to live long enough to kill something first. I fly T2 when I plan on ganking and getting away most of the time.
2. Do you insure the ships you fly? Yes, always. Even the T2 ships. Its always profitable when you get blobbed as much as I do.
3. Why? I get blobbed a lot. Probably because I like to fly solo too much.

3:I spend a lot of time in fleet war, and insurance tanking is fun. I get popped and hop into my spare(also insured ship) and get right back into the fight for minimal losses. Normally flying a basilisk so my fleet buys me my equipment. I am their insurance :P

1. Both equally. 2. Only T1 3. i usually engage in toughter fights with my T1 ships than with the T2 ones, so it's easier to lose a T1 ship than a T2 one. and T2 insurance is broken anyway ________________________________
