Russia will probably win, but it definately wont be easy.

Actually, South Osetia's rebels kept attacking Georgia, Georgia initiated a strike back... then Russian armored troops actually fought back.
It actually surprises me how Europe and America thinks of Russia as of the 'Bad Guys'
In fact with the support of USA and NATO Georgia has acted very hostile and kept provoking conflicts and building up tensions in the regions. So Georgia is the aggressor, while the NATO is the mastermind...
Seeing this video I learned that russian tanks suck... as well as their army does

Edited by: Kecheor on 08/08/2008 22:56:23 Well, if South Ossetia has attacked Georgia than why civilians are fleeing SO and not Georgia? Probably because invisible Russian forces have blocked all the ways out of Georgia. Must be it.
Hint: Georgia has attacked the city of Tshinvali (South Ossetia) @ 07-08.08.2008 midnight (GMT +4) and has killed over 1k people with "Grad" artillery. And i thought that the cold war has ended...

I think we can conclude that neither S.O. nor Georgia had sov 3, or they had some pretty crappy POS handlers since the russians were able to hotdrop them that fast.

Well, Georgia is a strategically valuable ally of the United States that was petitioning to join NATO...
...Shit.
I give russia one week to get this to peace talks before America and NATO sail fleets into the Black Sea and start giving direct military support to Georgia. One should not **** with American allies or nations begging to join NATO. Sure Russia has beaten the crap out of Georgia in the last few days, but it's ****ing off some very powerful friends by doing so.

There is more to it, Southern Ossetia blocks the way for a georgia-europe pipeline. Why do you think Northern Ossetia is so quiet?..
Well, they could lay the pipeline through Turkey, but meh - more dollars to spend on that. So why wont they bully a Russia-protected state instead? Politics...

What a wonderful argument! I'm sure you'd feel exactly the same if any random military power bulldozed your house and murdered your family!

I would not expect a bunch of people on the other side of the world who have no involvement to cry themselves to sleep because bad things happen in this world. And if my family was murdered and said something funny as they went out like "don't taze me bro!" I might not be laughing at it myself but I could still see the humour and would not begrudge a man for looking on the bright side and trying to enjoy his day instead of looking for the darkness in life and letting it consume him.

You dont get it do you? Georgian puppet government sponsored by US has invaded South Ossetia, used a carpet bombing a erase a capital of South Ossetia killing 1400 people (a majority of them had a Russian citizenship). They started to shoot Russian peace forces. Russian forces moved in after that. Not before that.

you could think of him as enlightened as sick as that is how do you think the people calling the shots in this (and every other conflict) think of it? UNTIL the guy at the top suddenly has the shells landing outside his house, you better believe its not much more than a game to them. unless the guy at the top is an idealist. then he is just naive "one more spam thread will get you a warning. - Thanks Hutch. "8.08.2008 - 20:23 Appeal to the Governments and peoples of the world Our people have been systematically exterminated for the past 19 years by the fascist Georgian regime, and their inhuman atrocities have been neglected by the world for the sake of geopolitical interest of the United States. The conflict is being resolved in compliance with international law. However, skillfully applying falsification of historical facts and political insinuations, under a patronage from the US government, Georgia misrepresents reality to the world. As of today, the major part of South Ossetia has been eradicated by Georgian aggressors. Our elderly, women and children continue to die. The total death toll is unknown as the Georgian side was opening heavy fire at those trying to help the wounded. Including children. The unmatched Georgian brutality has been vividly displayed in 1991-1992, when they have been firing point-blank at South Ossetian civilians ū the Zar tragedy can never be forgotten, a bus full of people shot dead - elderly, women and children. They shot a three-year-old boy trying to hide under his motherĘs body. What can we talk about with Georgia? How can we forgive burying people alive, burning people, and torturing people with refined methods? After all this, the world is silent and the Georgians continue killing innocent people. Saakashvili doesnĘt feel sorry for anybody, even his compatriot Georgians. The notions of "people" and "meat" are not too different for him, and probably he prefers the latter. For South Ossetia there is only one way to survival - a recognition of its independence by the world community. We appeal to all the good people in the world not to be indifferent to the fate of the Ossetian people."
