I'm a casual player and all I want from EVE is a possibility to login for like an hour or two, and do some solo pirating. Currently it doesn't look too bright for me - Not much targets in the low sec besides of FW blobs and pirate gank squads.
Why the high sec is so large? There is not much going on in the low sec. How about moving all level 3 and 4 agents to low sec and also drastically limiting the size of the asteroid belts, so there is no point using mining barges and exhumers in the high sec?
How about introducing ships size cap on the entire systems? How about permitting T2 ships in 0.0 only?
How about making sort of Battleground systems in a similar way to WoW - so each side of the battle is limited to 20 vessels only? So there is no problem with blobs and there are more or less equal chances.
Yes, I admit I've came here from WoW. And I admit I'm kinda lost here. I just don't know how to get here a decent 1v1 fight.

Just can-bait in high sec. You can get a couple of 1v1s that way.
Also, Lol battlegrounds.

Unfortunately EVE is becoming more like the game you came from. Where everyone is doing missions for "currency" and living happily ever after because the dangerous parts of the world are not worth the trouble.
I might be exaggerating, but I would like to see people spread out more so that trade hubs aren't so few and concentrated and low sec is more profitable because of the risk. Sure let the mission runners stay in safety but don't make it the best option. ...

Declare war on a small corp.. Something that has 3-5 members. That should give you your 1v1 or "manageable" blobs. It's quite fun to play cat and mouse.
If you move lvl 3 and 4 agenst to low sec, you will find some more targets, buy they will soon organize or leave low sec (and probably EvE also). So you are back to square 1. Because if you change their "world" they will adapt or die. It's as simple as that.
But to be honest, I've just as rarely experienced a good 1v1 fight in WoW as I have in EvE.

If you wan 1vs1, yeah, give High Sec can baiting a try, you can get great results.
Or do low-sec piracy for a lot of time, and at least you'll become experienced enough to know when you're getting a 1v1 and when you're about to be ****d. ---<---@ JackFalcord |

Edited by: Tharukan Desm''ar on 11/08/2008 09:54:19 Eve doesn't cater to instant gratification. Most professions require a lot of time, effort with no guarantees sometimes that you'll even get what you want. Especially on the pvp side of things if you intend to do it solo. I'd try find a corp that does low sec pvp in affordable to lose ships. It can be really fun and good corps/ alliances have fleets running all day sometimes. Plus you'll learn a lot from more experienced pilots. Good luck out there.

All you need to do is ask people. I bet if you find yourself a low-sec system and ask a pirate, he will accept and honour a fair fight :) But ofcourse, you never know..

What are you looking for? Are you looking to fight, or looking to win? It seems you want to attack mining barges and exhumers? They might give you a 1-vs-1 experience, but not a challenging fight. Same with most mission runners, since PvE and PvP require other setups and tactics.
Consider blobs (and evading them) part of the EVE PvP challenge. There are plenty of 1-vs-1 fights to be had in Factional Warfare, you just have to be smart about it, and not engage obvious bait ships.
An important additional point, if you wait for a 1-vs-1 that favors you, you won't get a lot of fights. If you look for 1-vs-1 fights that favors the enemy, you will get much, much more fights. As you are inexperienced: if you hate losing, forget it and go on the test server for your needs. ____

Since it is a game for fun, I tend to fight for fun rather than to win. To me a challenging fight is fun, winning is only of secondary importance. Smart flying allows you to avoid most of those who just desire to win and seek unfair fights. |

Guess what, then loads of ppl would quit, and the rest would move on to 0,0 alliance still leaving you without a targets

so you want to kill the merc profession as well just cause you cant handle t2 ships in low sec? or should everyone get punished cause you cant get the fight u want?

1vs1 fights almost never happens anymore. get your skills up and get ready to fight outnumberd, thats most fun fights anyhow. or if you really want a 1vs1 you can log on sisi

high sec is the most populated because most people think it's the safest place to be. If you want 1v1 a good way to do it is wardec small noob corps, but I find this pathetic since the only people who do it are people who can't fight a real opponent and boost their ego by taking it out on noobs.
Originally by: Borh How about introducing ships size cap on the entire systems? How about permitting T2 ships in 0.0 only?
um....no thank you. You're saying I should be punished and not be able to fly T2 ships just because you're too scared to enter lowsec? Go back to your WoW, man.

no way in hell. This is stupid and will never be implemented. Again, go back to your little WoW.

There aren't many 1v1 fights. Get in a corp and fight in small gangs, with other people. Way more fun than solo anyways, this is a multiplayer game. Play it as one.

Edited by: Gavin Darklighter on 11/08/2008 12:23:47 1v1s are out there, they just aren't all that common. There are also lots of targets flying solo for you to gank, but I wouldn't call them a fight.
Originally by: Merdaneth An important additional point, if you wait for a 1-vs-1 that favors you, you won't get a lot of fights. This is the real truth of EVE PVP. The best way to get targets to fight is to have them come after you. Just make sure you know exactly what they are bringing to you, and make sure that you are well above-average so that you can fight and win agianst a superior enemy. The first part requires a scout, either a scout alt of your own or a friend to do it for you. The second part requires skills, both for your charachter and for yourself, as well as equipment. Fighting this way you WILL get blobbed and you WILL take losses, but it sure is alot of fun when everything comes together and agianst a stronger enemy you turn the hunters into the hunted and tear them apart

You can find 1v1s with some patience -- however, you will have a challenge finding "favorable" 1v1s because (1) most people do not play solo any more and (2) most people who do play solo are pretty good at figuring out what fights they can win and what ones they can't and are pretty skilled at avoiding the latter. It's much easier to get into fights in gangs and fleets -- if you are dead-set to solo hunt, you're going to have to be very, very patient about it. --------------------------- Backstory at: here

Yeah. It's a lot more interesting than joining a blob. I'd actually perfer rolling a dice that decides if I'm gonna self-destruct or not. Than at least you dont have to wait and wait and wait for the FC to decide what to do, AND eventually get blown up 3 hours later..
Besides, It's those tight 1on1 battles that you really get to test your skills. Fighting in small groups is also cool, but that tend to end with the other team blobbing up on us (which ofcourse is a valid tactics, but still.. :))
