Had a newb player (12 days old) start a corp and war dec an alliance, then try to ransom the alliance head, who only had 100 mil so he said, and poofta a ton of damage later alliance head was destroyed. Then in order to move his ships the veteran character left the newb started corp, no time for anyone else in the alliance to retaliate and it's something one of the alliance members petitioned and it's perfectly fine via a gm's ruling yet we get no compensation? should be a 24 hour window from corp join to ability to leave even forced out by the leader(but we have tools to block chat etc...) Just my two cents.

12 day old player created a corp, his battle ready alt joined once the war dec was started, then to avoid us going after him, when he killed our player, he left the corp his newb character started. We have no way to legit get him back outside of suicide ganking which isn't the way we operate or similiar. It feels like an exploit, but it's apparently not. We don't appreciate the way that system works, but oh well. And ticker added

Edited by: Havohej on 16/08/2008 20:23:17 If I'm understanding it correctly, some solo PvPer used a noob alt to start a corp with which he wardecs people. Then, he kills people. Then, he corphops his role-less main in and out of the corp when he doesn't want to worry about his wartargets killing him.
So the OP's alliance leader got tackled, refused to pay a ransom, got blown up, and now these guys are posting a whine thread on CAOD about how corp hopping is lame 'cause the GM told them there's nothing CCP can do about it if the guy chooses to drop out of his corporation before these guys can have a chance to get their revenge.
Really nothing to see here that hasn't been seen on GD and C&P a thousand times before.
EDIT: OP clarified while I was writing this and, whaddayaknow, I was right.

Yes It's a whine per-se. And yes they are in npc corp, but he can hop in and out of the 12 day old corp at any time to kill targets. But our people are furious. I understand the tactics, and legit or not, it's dumb. It's the mechanics of it, I understand it's underhanded and dishonorable for sure.

Every time he drops out of the corp, he remains a valid target for 24 hours. Keep an eye on the in-game clock and have an alt docked in a station with a locator agent at all times if this ONE guy is such a HUGE PROBLEM for your whole alliance (I'm not in-game to look you guys up right now and I probably won't later anyway... I'm just sayin', one guy vs. your whole alliance and it needs a CAOD thread?)...

If a guy leaves the corp I'm pretty sure he isn't a valid target for the next 24 hours. Otherwise I've been missing a load of targets. If they are a target, they certainly have no identifier that identifies them as such.

If someone drops corp he isn't a legal target anymore. Always been like that. Would like it to change, but the OP is SOL in any case.

So far, the only thing that has been deemed an exploit is for a corp to join an alliance and then immediately leaving said alliance in order to dodge a wardec. All other forms of corp hopping are currently legit, or at least dependant on which GM you petition to.

i wish war dodgeing was disallowed. Imune is an exploit, which is basicaly the use of the alliance to skim war decs off incoming corporations leaving them clear. -------------

The method described by the OP is used also to attack high sec poses that belong to industrial corps, so one alt corp created, members join it with no roles assigned , reinforce a tower , join an npc corp , come back when pos out of reinforce , join the alt corp to shoot the pos again. its a way to avoid a war that they them selves have declared .
Actually they can create several alt corps and have each corp with a war dec running , and all active members are sitting in npc corps , only join when towers are to be shot or out of reinforce.
CCP doesnt consider that an exploit, since players can join and quit corps as they please.

I refer you to the already in progress complaint thread. When we petitioned this, we were told its not an exploit but if we get enough votes they will make it one.

it's an exploit iirc.
basically, he applies to his warring alt corp, gets in position by the targets and the alt accepts his application and boom, there is nothing you can do about it in terms of reasonable gameplay.

So what you're saying is I stand a better chance of this being ruled a 'sploit if GM Gandalf picks up my petition?
