More like 10-20 seconds. * Memory usage reduced by alot * General Performance Fixes
This release brought to you by PERSON WHO WISHES TO REMAIN ANONYMOUS, and Lhyda Souljacker. Special thanks to Quurst and some other people who I can't remember for their original work on EVE-Map.
Instructions Only people previously having used EVE-Map: Delete your old user.eve file.
Install .NET 3.5 SP1. Just Google .NET 3.5 SP1 and it's the first result from Microsoft. If you have .NET 3.5 installed already you may not need to download .NET 3.5 SP1 but there's no real reason not to have this. You *MUST* have at least .NET 3.5 installed for this to work. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Download this and extract it somewhere or over top of your old evemap install if you have one or if you don't anywhere will do.
Run EVE-Map. I highly suggest you go to Data -> EVE-Online API -> Update All Data after running just to get up to data sov information and such.
If at all possible please post bugs and feature requests to the googlecode website here. And please remember to search before posting a bug! Posting bugs and feature requests in this thread may result in me not seeing and thus ignoring your request.
Please be kind and donate some isk, please send it to Lhyda Souljacker.

I have tested this on XP, XP x64, Vista, Vista x64, and 2008 x64. It all works. If it crashes on startup you do NOT have the correct .net version installed. See main post for the correct version.

Make sure you aren't running EVE-Map from a network drive and that you have .NET 3.5 SP1 installed. If that doesnt help post the entire error dump to the googlecode site as an issue. However I have a feeling that you are either running from a network drive or didn't extract all of the files to the same directory. If empyrean.eve exists in the same directory as EVE Map it should run fine.

I love this map tool. But you are missing at least one pair of stargates. I don't see the connection between Old Man Star and Heydieles. It should be there, I just jumped through it!

"Otsela" is a system that doesn't exist in the application - you have it as "Otosela".
In addition it takes too long to calculate Cyno Jumps. ICSC's on line jump planner is much, much faster and more flexible in this regard.
Other than that I do like it alot
Keep working on it guys.

Both systems exist in EVE-Map. I just checked.
As for the speed of the jump planner. I could make it as fast as ICSC but then I'd need to store a several hundred megabyte cache of jumps on your harddrive. The way EVE-Map calculates jumps is more flexible and sometimes results in better routes than ICSC. I know of a few instances where EVE-Map has shaved jumps off of a route compared to ICSC.
If all of this doesn't make sense, take this away: This is working as intended and will not be fixed since it isn't broken.

I remember doing a jump planer just for fun 2 years ago, it definately does not take hundreds of MB to store precomputed jumps and even without precomputed stuff it only takes a few sec to get a very long route (crossing all eve).
You don't need to store all the different and possible path, only the shotest path between 2 systems (as far as possible from each other) and each route that has a destination in one of these path only need to find the shortest path to one of the node, the rest is already computed. If you keep storing your route with the most jump you end up with a few dozen "highway" and very short partial route to plot. You could provide a few of these routes with your program, then each user will expand it's own set.

The source is open if you'd like to contribute such a feature.

while i would not normally recommend running anything written by a goon if you don't want your passwords stolen, this one is a corp thief. So it goes triple for him. |

While the corp thievery bit is true, that was 2 years ago and I'm not even that person.
As for the password theft accusations, I hope you aren't using EVEMon. That was written by Six Anari who was also goon.
EVE-Map is open source. If you think there's something in there to steal passwords, go have a look for yourself. Otherwise I would appreciate you staying out of this thread with your baseless accusations.

It's open source, so you (or anyone else) are free to take a look. But no, I suppose it's easier to just level baseless accusations instead, right?

If you like this program, please donate ISK to show your support.
Lhyda and others have put countless hours into this program as well as making it open source for further enhancement, and should be rewarded for such dedication. |

Edited by: Venomire on 25/08/2008 21:16:40 It helps us get around all the space we have because we have so much space it's easy to get lost in the space.
(jump bridges and jump routes are cool too).

Did the loot from his corp thefts finally run out and he has to rely on the charity of others? You'd be a fool to blindly trust any bit of code written by the OP unless you don't mind chancing involuntary donations later. |

Edited by: Caldalra on 07/09/2008 18:51:15 This is awesome!! Now I'm kinda ****ed I just ordered the Eve Map book.
A couple things that would be nice: 1. Add notes to systems (i.e. 3 cans here, P.o.S. here) 2. Bookmarks of specific systems (because I can never remember names) 3. Set a home system to always open at 4. Retrieve traffic stats

EVE-Map 2.2 is out.
I added the ability to save routes. It's still pretty fresh and has some kinks/quirks.
I fixed some bugs too but I can't remember what I fixed and what I didn't.
Get it here: http://evemap.googlecode.com/files/EVE-Map-2.2.rar
