Ok so I've been doing mostly courier missions after I left the tutorial and finally I got a level 1 encounter, but when I got to the location, I was swarmed and murdered within seconds. I was in an Incursus and, yes, I lost a huge investment. :P Now I'm simply shrugging at what I should do now - Attempt to go back to an encounter or just go back to courier missions.
Any advice on what I need to do to survive these battles -_- Besides not being a noob of course XD

Double-check the sec status of where you're going. Also, was it a courier mission or a courier contract? SPEND Corp is now recruiting! Click for details. |

I don't remember the missions name but I know I had to take them all out, and sadly they took me out. I came out of warp and started to approach a small group of three, and although they were very spread out, they all quickly turned and came my way, in which I was killed quickly.

It sounds like you got a combat mission from a courier agent. It's rare, but it happens. Be sure to read the mission details carefully before undocking.

Most Level 1 agents I find are Admin and they give a mix of missions from courier, combat and mining.
Tactics! Learn to "kite" or run from rats to seperate them and take on one at a time until you get your skills higher. And always warp out before damage get into the hull (or the inner circle). Once your armor is gone, get out quick! Go to the closest station and repair, rinse and repeat!
Some missions you may have to repair 5 to 10 times until you can afford a larger, better ship and have the skills to fly it properly.

You probably just haven't learned yet about how to maximize your damage output and your tank. You might want to download EFT (eve fitting tool) and try experimenting with fittings for that Incursus.
In general for mission-running you want longer-range weapons that the ship is bonused for. Gallente ships are bonused for hybrids, so you would choose railguns instead of (short range) blasters. Set your default orbit distance to the optimal range of the guns with the ammo you've chosen. Don't forget to carry a drone, it's like a whole extra gun that doesn't take any capacitor or ammo.
Kiting means getting the rats angry and then flying away from them in a straight line while your drone and your long range guns pick them off. Since they're coming straight toward you, and you're hopefully out of their range but within your range, you should have no problem killing them one by one.
Gallente ships are armor tankers. Try fitting a small armor repairer (only use it when you need it, so it doesn't kill your capacitor), a damage control unit, and a 100mm or 200mm armor plate.

Only two lows on an incursus >.<
Simple really, fit a rep and a damage control, since the damage control will make you rep "more effective" (It actually reduces the hp you lose when being shot), and make your structure a hell of a lot tougher. --- Sig Starts Here --- Lord Haur - Imperial Academy Logistical Support
