Hello all, I would like to point your attention to the EVE Character Manager, a tool which basically lets you plan your character progression in EVE.
Character Manager @ EVE-I
please be advised that the application is still in beta, which means that there is a real possibility of bugs occurring. We are, however, working hard to iron out most problems, and would appreciate your feedback.

Good, that's what I've been missing
May I also suggest another way of doing this : Entering the password at program startup.
Even if I trust the program itself, I don't like having passwords in a file on the hdd - encrypted or not.

Found a bug in the program, if you try to delete the skill that is currently training, it pretty much blows up in your face.

thanks for the feedback, both the fix for the deleting of the skill in training and the option to ask for a password will be available in the next release.

Good job. This thing is majic, and allows me to plan my skills out so they can be changed while i'm on break, or any time i'm available. This is going to be widely used in my corp as i will require it to be on every members comp. I nominate this for a sticky, anyone second that?

I second that! That utility should be on everyone's desktop as far as I'm concerned; it's that damn good. I've now planned out my training for the next 8 months. Having everything in one location like that is great, and the print-outs are a nice option.
Two thumbs up over here.

KrakizBad, are you really going to require members in your corp to have this program on their computer? Seems rather odd to make it mandatory on what someone puts on their computer. No big deal I suppose to those who don't mind, and maybe your members don't.
Balthial, Do you 'need' to know what to train 8 months from now? I have been in the game for about 13 months I think (since release) and training skills have been added, adjusted, implants came out, more to come, etc....; while neat, I will bet you your schedule for the next 8 months will change.
Now to anyone reading this topic, or even the author of the program mentioned in this thread; will it count your skill totals per major category and add up your leveled skills? What I mean is like a little program I wrote to show me some items in my skill set (can be seen in the tagline link below).
What I would like to see is how many level 1's through level 5's I have, how many total points are in each major category, and for kicks I like to see how my skill points are distributed amongst the levels and the major categories. I haev not downloaded the program mentioned here, so thought I would check.
No offense to the program mentioned, but I don't need to know what I will train 8 months from now since most skills for me take days to complete; so I am more interested in distribution and totals instead. Will this program do totals?
Take a look at my tagline link to see the display I am using right now.
If it isn't included now; will there be a page that will be added to the program that could do this? The code is very easy to write for someone who has created this topic's program, so it could be a suggested feature request in the future.

Edited by: White Fang on 08/06/2004 01:49:38 It's funny as I downloaded the program first then realized it was announced here. Seriously, great job, especially on those accuarate calculation of training times. It allows me to meditate on what I would like to train and update the list as need be. Despite what some people say, planning IS important. Eve online is a business environment, it needs to be flexible, but at the same time planning is highly recommended.

See those icons to the right of "Character info"? Just click'em and see what they do.

Agent Shield, lol, my schedule changes constantly, and did like 5 minutes later on another whim. I think it's just nice to have a "general" feeling of direction and what you've planned out. It has better secondary applications, like knowing when you need to have what funds for which new ships and items you can use, kind of thing, but it's still nice nonetheless. I'm enjoying it anyways.

Yep, I figured you might change your skill planning for that 8 months.
You are right though, it probably is fun to see what it can do. The program sounds neat, haven't downloaded it yet; was waiting to see if it had something I could use; or like to use.

unfortunately, this is not possible, as this would require either the protocol description (and permission) from CCP, or a hack into the client. since this would be a bannable violation of the EULA, and CCP probably will not release the documentation required, I don't see this happening in the near future

Nice work on the Program. Have found one minor bug though Mass production is incorrectly linked to Engineering, needs to be linked to Industry lvl 3 instead.

Islay,
Saw someone post in this forum area there skillsbycat and skilllevels display pages; but it looks 'off'. Thought I should let you know so you can review in case something is amiss.
Engineering (Possibly 'energy management') is showing as it's own category of a skill but duplicating Engineering as it's main header.

Thought you might want to know in case it is a bug in the display or something. Agent Shield |
