Alright. I've turned to the darkside and have begun pirating - damn is it fun! I've been using a myrmidon and vexor to great effect but would like to gate camp a bit (lame i know). Using a BC or BS just doesn't work so well - too big a sig radius and stock resists are poor. I'm thinking with the phobos I can tank the gate guns and hopefully whatever jumps in while I call for my buddies a few AU off gate. How viable is this option? I currently have heavy electrons fitted with standard mids and a tank setup in the lows (rep, resists, 1600 RT). I had to equip 1 Anciliary Current Router to get the grid to fit the heavy guns. It's imho that if it gets bonuses for medium blasters, then dang it, fit medium blasters. HOWEVER. What about adding another current router, dropping the plate and equipping heavy ion IIs? for a bit more dps? Anyone used a phobos in such a manner? How'd it go?

Define 'Standard Mids'. On a HICtor, you should be using the high slot WDFG instead of a regular mid-slot point; if you're not you would be better off in a Deimos so you could do more respectable damage. Otherwise (Electrons, tank, etc), you have the right idea. A HICtor isn't a damage dealer, it's a heavy tackler so fit it suchly. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

I had heard you could not use those warp disruptor field things in lowsec, which was about the only reason I'm not using a phobos lol. If I'm wrong in this knowledge, please correct me.

I personally would drop that second web for a sensor booster/scan res script to allow for faster locking time, but a double web is a viable option as well. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

Don't ever sacrifice tank for DPS on a HIC if your in gang warfare. You WILL BE PRIMARIED. There is no debate or argument on this front. A HIC's strength is in its massive tank which will prevent you from dieing. If your into Gank, fit a Thorax or a Deimos. HIC's are best suited with tanks.

I'd seriously use a sensor booster, so hard to catch people without at least one. Btw, if you have corpmates which fly Drakes and crap like that, there is one very useful role for a Drake in a gatecamp: being able to sit perma-agressed with two remote sensor boosters, makes it much easier to catch people ;) Sig removed, inappropriate link. This build allows you to perma tank sentries + hopefully the dps of your victim. It's best to setup bookmarks 300 or so off the gate you can warp to, sit at your safe aligned back towards the gate while you are flagged, so you aren't burning cap boosters when you don't need to. Have a scout/alt watching the other side of the gate and warp to gate at 0 when a juicy target is coming through. NOTR How to Fail at Eve

Rajere, good setup and advice. Does that fit require AWU V? Seems the ions eat a lot more grid than electrons..
