Anyone know if there's anything new coming up on that front? I haven't been keeping up myself. The command ships look all useful and nice, but it's a long run to Battlecruisers 5 for a single ship class.
Still, I need a training project when I go back to RL, and I'm thinking I could train up another race in cruisers as well so I'd get two flavors of command ships and a lot of new cruisers to play with. So, the question is what would go best with my current Gallente skills. I'm thinking Amarr since I have the support skills for armor tanking, cap and turrets all trained up, and the small laser specialization skills done so I'd be ready for T2 medium energy turrets in pretty short time as well.
And yes... I think that except maybe for the Sac I have a weak spot for the looks of Khanid Innovation ships...

Adding ships to the game simply to add more ships is stupid. New ships need a clearely defined role, or you end up with the balance mess were in now.

The 4 races will never be 100% balanced. But until CCP has made everything somewhat balanced no new ships. ------------

Nothing that can't be solved by more Minmatar nerfs.

Well, that bit was mostly curiosity. The other part was more relevant... in short, what other cruiser skill should I train to level 5 if I want something that both complements Gallente T2 ships and makes most use of my current skills.

Don't know - personally trained Battlecruisers V to, well, make battlecruisers more powerful. It's a good skill if you fly them a lot.
And, yes, I would say Amarr is the right choice if you're gallente. Sig removed, inappropriate link. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Amarr would definitely make the most sense for you. Your drone skills (I assume you have them if you are Gallente) will be valuable with the Amarr ships, as will the tanking and gunnery skills you mentioned. Caldari would require missile and shield tanking skills to make the most of and minmatar are kinda lackluster at the moment.

There are also caldari t2 railboats. If you go for them you can reuse your hybrid skills and can just train shields (Which helps a little on the armor ships too).

Amarr probably have the best HAC's atm, and they will be just as good after the speed nerf, as they dont need to be nano'd to be effective, unlike the poor ishtar which wont be able to tank for shit or have speed, it will just be a cruiser with heavy drones, so you would be better off in a domi as it costs half the price. Amarr have good command ships too, so go for amarr.

Can you please explain why ishtar won't be able to tank after the speed nerf? I am not flaming I honestly don't know why the speed nerf and tanking is related. What am I missing?

Ammar ships have nice resists. One reason I'm looking at them is for solo medium difficulty exploration. With exp/kin resists built in it's pretty easy to tank them up for whatever you find.
And I'm sure the Ishtar still can be useful without speedtank. Fill it up with loads of disposable medium and small drones, maybe a couple of damps or something and then throw waves and waves of drones at other nerfed ships and watch the drones actually catch them... and even without nano speed it can keep out of range better than a Domi.

An Ishtar can be tanked, it is just a little CPU tight. (there were tanked Ishtars before the nano craze).

I think the silly thing with Ishtar is that it has hybrid damage bonus, but only three turret mounts. It's about as useful as a missile bonus on a Megathron.

I would like some more T2 BCs just so i can use snazzy different looking hurricanes or something.
A nice gleaming silver cane would be nice.

I don't think they should really set out new ship types but rather like with cars reissue some of them with a different look to the hull types. Each ship type we do have can be counted to a point with the rigs and fittings so the need to make up newer ship classes would be not be need. If any thing give some of the ships and extra fitting slot in the mid or lower part of the ship if that. But thats just me.

I think I stick to my plan to go with Amarr then, with the pretty Damnation at the end of the line. Which means I'll get a reason to train a bit of missiles when I'm there as well...
But I still think the game needs a T2 Myrmishtar... ;)

How cool would a t2 harbinger be? wow.. <droolmode>A black Harby....</droolmode>
Role: Command ship/logistics 1. Can run 3 gang mods 2. Skill Bonus: 150% bonus to Energy Transfer Array and Remote Armor Repair System range and 20% bonus to Armor Maintenance Bot transfer amount per level Logistics Skill Bonus: 15% reduction in Energy Transfer Array and Remote Armor Repair System capacitor use per level 3. Role Bonus: -65% power need for Remote Armor Repair Systems and -50% power need for Energy Transfer Arrays (indeed a copy paste from the Guardian :P)
Something like that would be supersweet, you would combine the command ship with the logistics, hell why not putting a jumpdrive ability on it like the black ops. Hell yeah! Make it some kind of black ops battlecruiser :)
just an idea...

People keep saying please don't add more ships before you balance what's already in the game, but you're forgetting two things:
1) A complex game like EVE will never become "balanced". "Balanced" and "FOTM" and other such terms are higly subjective to the person using them, eg. "EVE is balanced when the projs on my tempest do more damage" or "nano is FOTM" (although it's only FOTM because lots of people are doing it - not necessarily because it's the only way to do things). So as long as there are different people, EVE will never be balanced.
2) New stuff rocks.

On the topic of cross training, I would probably go Amarr, as I like their Command ships. Caldari have some good rail platforms to go with your gunnery skills, but I hate rails :p
As for implementing more ships. I would like to see some more ships continue along the covert ops line. At the moment there are few ships that utilize the destroyer and battlecruiser hulls in t2 versions.
Having a tier 2 battlecruiser hull to fill the gap between recon cruisers and black ops. I have no idea what role it would fill other then that.
Another t2 destroyer would be nice. Maybe with some kind of cover ops role to fill the gap between cover ops frig and recon cruiser.

I have Gallente BS5 and more isk than I can burn, but battleships are slow and boring. Now we're talking cruisers, and I will have 5/4 skills for three factions if I get Amarr up (when it comes to Caldari, I can't even fly an Ibis...)

The notion that more ships inherently leads to imbalance is flawed and wrong.
As long as the new ships dont create new roles the balance isnt hurt. Just makeing them over lap with existing ships make the races even more balanced.
If you think corp is different than a guild or clan you have some insecurity issues.

Depending on your electronic skills I will train for recons as Hacs will only add more of the same.
If you have good electronic skills training for ecm wont take long and will give you a totally diferent way to play eve. If you are low on electronics, curse or rapier depending on your taste. |
