I read somewhere that "can-baiting" in new player systems is the fast track to getting banned. Is this true with "wreck-baiting"(don't know what to call it) as well?
Wreck-Baiting as in: I steal his rat-wreck, he attacks me, i kill him.

I was more wondering if someone(not a newb) is in a starter system. I guess what I was also wondering is if you bait someone that is not a newb in a starter system-is it 'ban worthy'? Is the starter system rule(if there is one) for newbs or is it system wide?

CCP has stated that you can't do this in any of the starter systems. If a newb travels out of that system however, then you're good to go. Now recruiting! Click FFS! :X |

can't show the statement, but down below is the CCP (Eve System) warning for can-baiting in newbie systems:
2008.01.18 14:57 You have been warned for can baiting in rookie systems. If you do not cease this behavior, you will receive a temporary ban.

I saw someone doing it the other day..
and infact, if you go onto the starmap, colour stars by ships destroyed in the last 24 hours..
Jita is the top and then starter systems...
and something tells me that first npc doesn't WTF pwn all the newbs.

I consider it wreck-baiting if you kill the rats and leave the goodies, waiting for them to steal your wreck. If you take from their wreck and they attack, I think you're in the clear.
That said, however, leave the newbies in the starter system alone, for pete's sake.

I've done my share of evil things in game, but I honestly can't understand why someone would want to bait hour-old players in noobships who probably haven't even reached the section on flagging in the tutorial. |

You can also be nailed for can-baiting noobs in starter-constellations.
That's right. starter-constellations.

Be aware that in starter systems and heck, even all 1.0 systems, not just can baiting but can FLIPPING can get you in trouble. People mining into cans with hulks will petition you faster than you can say "lol" and you just might find a GM ship sitting beside you. Now my crew and I weren't banned, just told firmly to bugger off out of this system and to not flip cans.
Something to consider when you're looking to steal some ore. I stay out of 1.0 now just to be safe

Sorry to sound thick but is it the system or the player that is of concern. A Player mining with a Hulk is hardly new so how can he complain if somebody steals from his can. If he is mining in a starter system with a Hulk then he should get banned for being a chicken Sh1t in a deep space mining vessel.

How weak do you have to be to canflip hour-old noobs in the starter systems? I mean I'm all for survival of the fittest and "Eve is a harsh world" but c'mon - you're nailing these people then moaning that there's not enough targets to shoot at in low-sec.

Last I checked the tutorial doesn't cover jet can mining... how exactly would an hour old newb have thought to jetcan mine? ç¦ |

Well when we were petitioned for can flipping (In BS's no less ) we were told to leave. We weren't picking on one pilot, we picked on ALL of them
So yeah, despite it being "allowed" in most systems keep in mind that angry bears are often given the benefit of the doubt and ebil piwates aren't.

I used to can flip and actually made a good eve career out of it about a year back.
If they filled three criteria I let them be, but convoed them to educate them about the dangers of jetcan mining.
1. NPC corp 2. Under 14 days 3. Bantam or equivalent
I've given up on can flipping now but if you give me ISK I can offer you some pretty decent guides

Let's face it. Killing new players is lame, and anyone doing it is lame.

So someone is saying that they got a warning from a GM for messing with a hulk or are folks just making shit up.
I know you cannt bait new player by kicking out a can and saying free stuff or something similar, but I ve never heard of anyone getting in trobule for messing with hulks.
