I am very young player, almoust 2 month old and so far i have seen that everything in EVE demands isk. Whatever you do they just steal your money. (books, ships, items, guns, ammo, even damned transactions... :)
I have tried missions. Lvl 1 with good quallity agent makes decent money but it's a joke to real money.
I have tried lvl 2 missions but they are just too hard and take too long time to finish with my character so i calculated that i get more money doing lvl 1 ones (much faster and much easier)
After a while i have tried ratting (i live in low sec). I have found a system which is usually empty and have like 9 belts so my chances for Dread spawns are greater. This thing can make me even more money than missions but i always need to be on alert for any ship that comes in the system because i am easy target for everyone. And i always put my cruiser in stake (10-15 mill). In 4 days of ratting i only had one good loot (25 mil implant) I was very happy because that was the biggest money i have made so far.
Finally we come to best thing so far. I operate in 4 linked systems. They are full of gate campers and a lot of bad people. Lot of wrecks are around and i have seen a lot of elite wrecks too. So i decided to try a different thing. I buyed a "Probe" - minm. frigate. And equipped it with 2x salvagers, mwd, small shield extender and 2x nanofiber. (200.000 isk total)
So here is the deal, i just jump around where their usuall gate camps are and i salvage all those wrecks. Usually there is someone there but they cant be always on the spot, they have to dock up sometimes.
They have tried to kill me more than 20 times but they failed. Since i have small sig radius and i warp out pretty quickly it's very hard to get me. Best thing is if you jump on the gate and wrecks are very close, i dont even need to jump trough, i can just salvage until they start targeting me. Or if the coast is clear, just mwd to a wreck, start salvaging and align to any station so i can warp out in any sight of trouble.
Yesterday i made 70 milion in 2 hours of salvaging. I was yelling like crazy. All other ways of making money which i tried so far are ridiculous to this amount i earned yesterday. It's quite dangerous but it pays off sooo godly for a new character like i am.
Please post any comments, suggestions or similar stories which will improve this kind of Isk earning. :)

Edited by: Dana Su''ul on 28/08/2008 10:27:00 You find Lvl2's too hard, yet rat in 0.0? The mind boggles. But yes, knowing where (or with whom) to salvage can reap plenty of cash.

Nice to see new players finding a niche for themselves instead of seeing the scary pirates and shitting themselves all the way back to a mission hub. Personally though I've started making a point of salvaging the wrecks I leave, since the last time I lost my BS and came out with a profit when the winner didn't salvage the Sacrilege wreck nearby. Delicious capacitor consoles. |

Nice one....
I thaught all noob players need a lot of TLC before they can become self sufficent and less... pathetic.
I congratulate you on a profitable ninja path you have chosen. Not many do. Even less write about it.
You seem quite capable to survive in losec now, my only advice would be to drop off loot as often as possible as you will get killed from time to time. And maybe train salvaging to 4 or 5 so you can get decent salvage from t2 wrecks.
I think my best so far was 120 mil salvaged from a hisec command ship wreck
If you will be intereted in joining a corp, look me up ingame and mention youre the ninja. Im terrible with names

dude this is exactly what I did, but i couldn't salvage the wrecks... i just took the items from them.
I made 40 mill in around 1.5 hours. and i was a week old =))).
WHen i went to the market and saw one of the two guns were worth 10 million each I was so happy that it took me 10 minutes to sell them and i was just staring at the ISK...

Edited by: Stygian Knight on 28/08/2008 11:31:09 Whell everything that brings you money you must like :)
I thought that ratting, actually chasing dread spawns, after i got my first and last 25 mil drop, is best way for new player. But if you look it on the other side - i put my cruiser in danger every time i go for them, i have always to be on alert and watch the scanner plus i have to kill the rats, and to salvage them.
On the other hand, this is so much fun, having all those flashy people around in systems, knowing that they will be after you any time is somehow full of adrennaline, especially when you know that salvage target can bring you 1-60 mill.
Sometimes you just find unlooted wrecks. Which is also very cool.
And the best point is that you gamble 200.000 isk.
I am still in question, should i use 2x overdrive instead of 2x nano. I have 340 capacity (as i can remember) and that is usually enough for any loot. In certain situations i can always put expanded cargohold to get to 550 capacity. And all is T1 equipement because you actually scream to everyone "shoot me" :)

What i usually do is just after i get salvage/loot i always dock up, leave all in station and head out again. So basicly i am flying with empty ship all of the time. And when the party is over, i just go to station and start to organize/reprocess/sell/keep and all that nice stuff :) ------------------------------
I forgot to mention, i salvaged full lvl 4 mission yesterday and i earned 5 mill total. It took around 45min for that action. Corp mate had to kill all and i was flying around gathering loot and salvaging all.
That is pretty cool but it's not always able to be done because you have to wait for somebody who is willing to play lvl 4 mission. (they usually do it for the security - status or corporation status so they usually have no real interest in loot / wrecks).

Why don't you, y'know, try level fours then? Train up for a battleship and fit it well. Keep eve-survival closer to you than your genitalia and you'll be fine. I don't pretend that i'm any good at the minute; i'm running two ravens on two accounts, one 9mill sp one 3mill sp, each tech1 fitted. Rewards and bounties give me about, what 15-20 mill? After that, or during the mission, I bring the third account in; cormorant with 4x salvager 4x tractor beam. Salvage salvage salvage, log over and get hauler. Sell it all.
At least 40, maybe 55-60 mill. ---

I have a better idea, Knight. Why don't you come join Suddenly Ninjas, and we'll scan down Tierie's Missions and make her cry?
Mission Runners? In My C&P?
It sounds like you're having fun, which is the main point of why you're doing what you're doing. If you want to make some more coin, make Mission Runners cry and whine to the point of getting into a spitting, swearing frenzy, come give us a try. (We've been wardecced since week one, so we're doing something right!)
It will definitely give you more profit, with a little less risk (i.e. not everybody can shoot you) but the tears are what make our lives whole.

Stygian, thank you for restoring my faith in the new playerbase. I was beginning to thing they would never take any risks to make some ISK. Keep skilling up for the things you enjoy with your newfound iskies, try different things (I suggest blowing things up on occasion, making those wrecks you are salvaging is quite fun).

While overdrives and nanos contribute to your top speed, you might want to consider using an istab (inertial stabilizer) or two. The reason being that it will give your ship more agility, allowing you to get into warp faster. Considering your "profession", quick warping may be quite desirable.
Note that an istab will increase your sig radius. Play around with the three modules to find the balance you like/need. ---- Train more. Whine less.

I usually go with an OD/Nano combo, as the Nano does still give you a bonus to your align time, without the sig radius hit of the Istab. I find, if you're using a fast frig (the right ship for the right job) that this is the best combo, even if you start getting shot at.
I've personally tanked 3-4 Mission BS's for a good few minutes before needing to warp out in my Executioner, however, they (of course) didn't have webs or a point that I'd ever need to contend with.

Edited by: Dana Su''ul on 28/08/2008 14:51:08 Ooooo, so much inspiration - I also want to 'harvest' the goodies left behind from low-sec ratters/pvp and fatten my wallet
The main points are:
-ultra paranoia, so two WCS's -light & fast with small signiture, so AB not MWD -no combat, just salvage -no tractor beam, as wrecks belong to others -cheap, 'cos things do go wrong
[Atron, Zippy] 'Halcyon' Core Equalizer I 'Halcyon' Core Equalizer I
1MN Afterburner II Cap Recharger II
Salvager I Salvager I
[empty rig slot] [empty rig slot] [empty rig slot]
Keep aligned, be wary, reap the rewards. A cargo hold of 125m3 is of no concern as salvage is only 0.01m3 each. Nerfing my targeting range with x2 WCS's is fine as you have to be within 5k of the wreck anywhoo. My only concern was capacitor usage - not enough fit for either a battery or booster, so recharger was the only other option.
Thoughts?

If you stick with the Atron, try this fitting:
Lows: Overdrive Injector System II, Nanofiber Internal Structure II Mids: Small Capacitor Battery II, 1MN Afterburner II Highs: Salvager I, Salvager I
It gives you more speed, which is at the heart of the Ninja trade, and allows for the use of the Cap Battery you should have.

Heck, you might consider a safer (and more profitable) alternative to lowsec pirate salvage... learn up some scanning and get the lvl 4 mission runners salvage (just dont' lootz their cans or they might get ****y and shoot you). I'm actually considering doing that with an alt of mine, if for no other reason than to get some tears, tears are such a wonderful thing in Eve.
