I'm watching the dust final atm, and i'm seeing some people using a thrid person camera and some using first.
Are we going to have to option of which camera view we want to use in the final game? If so, awesome If not, why not? |

Some of them suck really bad ;)
Maybe it's just basic lack of control from PS3 controller. My EVE YouTube Channel |

Yeah I saw at least 3 badly thrown grenades lol
But the whole turning and moving seems a lot less visceral than on PC with mouse.

Also sucks for Team Insert Name Here. Only died 5 times in the third arena (out of 60 lives), but still lost overall. |

I hope not because i would much rather play in third person, especially if we have the ability to customise our characters. |

Yeah that's eve for ya... doesn't matter how hard you try, you're still going to get ****** in the end.
(Glad they transferred this to dust).

They mentioned in the Dust 514 Keynote that you can switch between both, so yeah it's a feature. |

It just didn't sell to me. Looked a bit like and looks like it will play like Enemy Territory: Quake Wars but with lower res textures. Lack of destructible environment in a 2012 FPS title is questionable. |

Awesome, thanks for confirming that dude
I have to say, i was very sceptical about dust at first especially following the announcement that it was going free to play. However, seeing it at fanfest i think CCP have won me over and i will probably but a ps3 this year.
With regards to the EVE and dust link, i would like to know where the dust fights will take place (high, low or null sec) as i'm not willing to be a sitting duck in low/null just so i can bombard a planet. Maybe corporations will be able to own planets in HS so we can fight over them and only have to worry about war targets jumping our orbital bombardment ships. |

Yeah i think they said that but i hope they don't do it in the end as it will create an uneven playing field. Save that for when the game is release for PC. |

As it stands with the build that you have seen in the DUST PVP Tournament, 3rd person view is available for players only while driving vehicles (and you can switch between 1st and 3rd person view anytime while driving/flying a vehicle). The times where you could see "over the shoulder" of a dropsuit in the finals, now that has been a spectator camera on a separate machine and one couldn't switch to this mode during combat. Okay, so sounds exactly like many other shooters are doing it, e.g. Battlefield 3. Sounds fine for me. :) Looking for more thoughts? Read my blog or follow me on Twitter. |

That's disappointing, but thanks for letting me know.
Since they already sort of have 3rd person in sage with the spectator camera, it would be reasonably easy to implement. Whether they do it or not is a different story. |

It's whatever you are used to really. I grew up on console games and only bought a PC to play EVE. When i try to play shooters on the PC, the mouse makes aiming much more precise but controlling movement with the keyboard is just r3tarded to me. |

Can't say I'm too fond of vehicles with 3rd person camera's. Limited field of vision is a great way to balance out their firepower and forces them to work together with infantry. http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/Tobiaz/sig_complaints.gif

Looks okay so far - a little bit off, but can't really tell why. Perhaps it's the quality of screenshots or films.
I already talked a colleague into borrowing me his PS3 for a couple of weeks, so I will have a first hand look at it. |

You have to remember that the players who were in this match had played maybe an hour or two of Dust at most, and as with all new/different FPS there are quirks that you need to get used to.
The winning team (Team Haggis, I'm so proud of my lil' dudes :D) did go on to win rather convincingly in the Devs Vs Players match and their tactics for the games were VERY clever, so it shows that despite a few mistakes they picked it up VERY quickly. Its a simplistic (looking) shooter.
Doesn't seem to be a lot to pick up.
And yeah, someone said they're adding mouse/keyboard and they *hinted* that it might eventually come out for PC |

Being one of the Silver medal winners in the Dust pvp tournament i can tell you the game was absolutely awesome, and remember guys this was just the latest alpha build. And youre right we had perhaps an hour and a half to test the game before the tournament considering the amount of players that wanted to try out the game. |

Doesn't seem to be enough about it. No destructable environments, limited amount of transport and environments look very generic. Theres no "OMFG look at that", no set pieces - nothing to put it on par with call of duty or battlefield etc. Sorry but other than the fact that it's attached to EVE I see nothing special about it. |

does it have auto-leveling? (y-axis)
That's all I want to know, anything else is crosshair-warfare...
From what I've seen it has auto-stopping for the x-axis, so you do not have to counter a right or left rotation of sights, which would be normal, so I'm hoping I do not have to level the y-axis manually.
I like using controllers when I get to dictate the precise position on the stick on the y-axis to get a head-shot above or below the horizontal plain - when I let go, I like the cross-hair to snap back to central position.
If I have to manually reset the position of the x-axis, I can guarantee you that I will officially suck at this game.
The two closest examples of this that I can attest to are Goldeneye and Turok on the N64, using the controller.
Someone please answer this minor, but crucial point.
It doesn't have to be standard, but please tell me it's an option.

There were drop ships that kinda work like the transport helis in bf3 and yes all on ps3 controller |
