Having whined a bit in the past and realizing my errors due to the fact that lately, the EVE Online forums have turned into an awesome experiment of everything that goes wrong in lightly moderated forums, I hereby provide an excellent link that will provide a more colorful variety of Whines.
Tru Sekrit Techniques to Whine on the EVE FORUMS
Go forth, read up and PLEASE create something more original than the regular "Cuz I think/say so X needs to be nerfed"
Learn and educate yourselves so you can debate any argument or imply factual arguments to be discussed ad nauseam using these sekrit techniques.
Thank you

We need more people saying, "ZOMG AD HOMINEM STRAWMAN!" Those are already getting close to the clichT status of "fail," "meme," and "amirite" but they just need that extra little push over the edge. |

I've been somewhat active on the forums lately out of a desire to debate. They bring it out in me, after seeing countless threads with total fabrications, base opinions, and overwhelmingly biased viewpoints put forth as "common knowledge" or "proof." It's been really frustrating.
So, I found www.onlinedebate.net and started reading. It's freaking awesome. Totally slacks my thirst for knowledgeable and well thought out arguments. The interesting thing is that flames take on a much different tone there; it isn't a case of "man, you suck at life," rather, "man, you're debate skills are weak." It's almost refreshing.
If you really want a good laugh (or cry, depending on which side of the argument you are on) check out any of the 50,000 threads or so debating the existence of god. It's hilarious, to me anyway. There one thread where this guy tries to prove the existence of god through Causality, and wrote up something like a 5000 word essay on the matter, delving into string-theory, relativity, and all manner of advanced physics. The very next post was only one sentence, and basically shredding his entire argument down to "that doesn't actually prove anything about god, or anything else." Comedy gold. |
