Yeah, I am having the exact same problem. One account loads station fine. The other one stays at the loading station screen forever. On the account that won't load i have tried the alts as well and they are having the same problem. |

Please try clearing your cache and log in again.
If that fails please file a petition to get this sorted.

This may be a stupid question.. how do you clear the cache. I am running XP home.
for the record.. Eve will not even start so i cannot even login let alone get to a station loading attempt.
I tried restarting the computer.. no luck. |

You can find the Cache in the following location in Windows XP
c:\documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\<a really weird foldername>
Inside the really weird folder is a folder called Cache, rename it to cache.old (or similar) and try restarting your client.
The Local Settings and Application Data folders are hidden so you will have to tell windows to let you see them.

OK, you will have to file a petition (via the website) and see if the technical GM's can help.
I would suggest starting LogServer and capturing a log of the client as it fails to start and sending that in with the petition.
Sorry i could not be more help.

In your C:\Program File\CCP\EVE directory is a file called LogServer.exe.
Run it start a new log, then start EVE it will capture a large amount of debug information for us to look at what is happening.
Close EVE and then save the Log File and zip it up and attach it to the Petition.

having same issue here, clearing temp files does nothing. im running winVista
I also noticed that in my task manager I have 3 instances of exefile.exe running. tried shutting them and reloading. each time I try reloading a new intance appears, but I don't actually see anything anywhere. Yes there are no minimized windows on my taskbar.

Edited by: KyShea on 03/09/2008 02:01:47 Interesting thing here. Sent ServerLog. But to note.
I am running 3 apps of Eve. Each one to it's own Dir. I first updated my second copy (C:\Program Files\EVE2) and tried to run Eve2 before updating my other Apps.
Just for curiosity, i did my first App (C:\Program Files\EVE)
And the update worked but said i would have to restart computer to complete.
Restarted computer and attempted to run App2. Worked with all new settings due to the Dir renaming. Closed App and reset my file Dir names. Restarted Eve2 and it worked with previous settings.
Original Eve worked. Have yet to update my third Eve App.
See if that helps anyone fix the problem or at least for the Devs to understand the issues.

Glad you got it running. Could you please submit the captured log file as a bug report rather than a petition so we acn look into what was happening.

This is the error I get when I run the eve client, after patch has been applied.
Verification failure.
2 failures have happend, one in CCP\EVE\common.ini and CCP\EVE\lib\stdlib.ccp
also getting DXSETUP.exe not found
This is after applying the patch and happens before the client fully loads(login area)

I get the splash screen problem too.
Flashes up for about 1-2 seconds then just closes, there is no exefile.exe in task manager though and doesn't even show when I have it open.
I tried to run the log server (which is confusing and seems to have all suppression turned on?) and it does nothing at all. Made a new workspace and under EVE it only allows me to stop it so I'm guessing it turned on. This is the classic client and it made me reboot after patching because of locked files.
A different computer with premium patched fine without reboot and the log server runs fine for it.
I did get an error with the patch though telling me about framedyn.dll being missing. I looked into this and I ran the directx updater which required it to run, I found the file on my computer and copied it over to the system folder to get the directx updater working. It "updates" fine but still no eve.

This thread need to be bumped to get some technical loving.
Keep getting verification failure window that pops up just as the client starts. Two file verification failures and the dxsetup.exe is not found.

Edited by: Quinella on 03/09/2008 03:20:30 Found a fix for my problem.
After windows rebooted it never copied over the files that were locked. I got these files from another client and put them in the bin directory and bang it worked!
If you are having the splash screen show and then disapear see if, exefile.exe, blue.dll, destiny.dll and a few others are in the bin folder under the exe directory.
EDIT: Frel make sure that dxsetup.exe is in the directx folder under the exe/bin directory.

I do have all those files in the bin dir. I am missing a directx exe in that folder though. I think the bigger problem lies with the other 2 files that dont pass verification. CCP\EVE\common.ini and CCP\EVE\lib\stdlib.ccp

This may be a one-off'r but I was having the same problem with the splash screen showing up for about 30secs then disappearing and no client (i tried this about 3 times and once after rebooting pc). I found the recent .exe patch file and ran it, which said the patch had already been installed. I clicked the 'launch eve' button from that screen and it worked. Now my shortcut works as well....

Eve loads fine, I can log in and select my Character. the client however gets stuck at the entering station screen. I can press escape but the screen is still black. Oddly enough I can see a fuzzy picture of the station interior when I press escape to get to the options. I also catch a glimpse of the interior when I exit EVE. I've reset my cache, my window, everything that can be reset. pls help!!!!

You might just need to reset your shortcut.
When I started eve from the program files/ccp/eve directory the program worked fine. The install changed the shortcut to point to the folder for the test server (which I haven't used in some time).

I had the problem with the splash screen, and after reading other people's mentions of shortcuts i had a look at mine. Just a brief background: In my CCP folder i have folders called EVE (premium main client) EVE Classic (classic second client) Copy of EVE (Test server client)
I only updated my main EVE client with the 1.1 patch, It seems that the patcher has managed to change it so that my shortcut reads:
Target: "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" Start in: "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE Classic"
Instead of:
Target: "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" Start in: "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE"
I have absolutely no idea why/how it could have done this but hey, thats for CCP to figure out lol.
It can be fixed by changing it back to start in the correct folder or by starting it straight from the exe

Had same error, i too have 3 eve clients installed in folders named EVE, EVE2 and EVE3 all sitting in the same dir. Anyway the shortcut (only patched one client yet) had somehow changed for me. It was pointing to the right exe (in the \EVE folder), but was asking for it to run in \EVE3 folder... anyways after changing the attribs of the shortcut to all point on the right folder EVE works fine for me. Miranele you wouldn't happen to have an asus X3SR series? For the last week or so I have been getting the dreaded server unknown message and I can't seem to find out what to do about it as I have gone through all the suggestions everyon has made. My computer has worked absolutely perfectly with eve except since the last week or so. I even had no initial problems after the patch. Please tell me if you get any contact from anyone who knows what they're doing apart from the usual "clear cache etc" comments. Cheers Doac
