don't know if this post belongs here or not -
the 1.1 patch was worth the wait.
i particularly appreciate the 'speed up'. - the game comes online much quicker - the changes to the 'my orders' dialog are very helpful as is the speed boost to table updates.
i'm sure there's more 'to behold' but i haven't left station yet.:)

Well, I personally can't PVP anymore due to not seeing my environment (ships, celestial objects). Ship background colors are missing as are symbols for cans and wreck (even after reset of window positions and clearing the cache).
While I am used to seeing issues after a decent size patch, these are in particular troublesome as they create a big disadvantage in combat when doing PVP. It is next to useless to know the distance to enemy (from overview) if you don't know from which direction he comes and where your buddies are in relation to yourself or your alignment to celestial objects. I got blue not visible in overview to prevent accidental locks on friends, but now I cant even see a blue ship in space at all!
So for the time being no PVP (read EVE), let the devs sort this patch out first (fix the fix for things that were not broken). So far its not been a blessing but a curse. In recent months the game was real stable and I could see the time coming when bad design choices and implementations made years back would be corrected and result in a better EVE. Well for now, the dream is in the freeze as is my will to start EVE in its current state.
Better order some extra piza for the hamsters at CCP, they got to do some work!

This sounds a lot like a settings and cache issue. Are you absolutely sure that you have cleared both out correctly?
Here is a KB article for it: http://support.eve-online.com/Pages/KB/Article.aspx?id=371
Please let us know if this helps.

Very sure Casqade, I used the in-game option for clearing the cache before backing up the EVE folders and before applying the patch itself. I run on Vista 64 bit and start EVE up with "/end /LUA:OFF" as parameters to make multiple instances work better (each account its own folder). I noticed the same issue on my non-PVP account and changed nothing to my system before, during or after the patch.
Funny thing is that when I do click on a buddy in space (after using a magnifying glass to find him) the background color does suddenly get applied. This to me indicated it is not an issue with settings or cache. Also seeing moons appear after alt-x but not asteroid belts (they did as before patch), is typical a thing unrelated to in-game configurations.
I did reset my window positions after experiencing these issues and it had no effect on any of the behaviors besides having to reposition every window (again).
Hope this info helps to find the part of the code that can be involved in this. My buddies do not have the same issue, thus it might be a combination of things. All I can say with 100% certainty is that I did patch as clean as possible (without system changes and with an empty cache). My gut feeling says that some rendering code has been changed that happen to affect both issues I experience and that is specific to certain systems/drivers.

Go and manually locate the cache and settings folder and remove it. I'm 95% certain that this is the issue here. Since I have not seen any reports so far about this issue which makes it specific to your computer/client. Or alternatively, remove the /Lua:Off switch and start the client.

Just completely renamed the cache folder, so eve had to make a fresh one.......problem still there! Going to log and try to start without the "/end /LUA:OFF".
But I am not really even slightly convinced it will or should make a difference here. I will keep you informed!

Don't forget the settings folder.
Some people probably believe that I like believe that Clearing cache and settings solves all issues or that I just like making people trash all their overview settings and such. But it is not true. I just want to make sure that we're not chasing ghosts when people are reporting issues. Corrupted cache and settings are quite common, especially when people copy them between clients and patches.

Starting without /end /LUA:OFF (to bypass the existing settings) does indeed show up corp buddies (as flashing red pirated btw) and shows wrecks and the accompanying symbols for them. It does not bring back the symbol for asteroid belts.
Can't use the 'solution' however as it destroys all organization of hundreds of bookmarks (safes, stations, bases, etc). Before posting here I did a reset of overview settings (bar removing all the tabs) and that did not give the same result as starting without any historic settings. It seems the patch corrupted up my settings more then other most other players :(. Still cannot confirm that setting the overview as intended will not bring back the issue either.
Concluding I should throw away my settings and move on is not good enough for me. These settings worked for years, patch after patch! I give it a few days before drawing more conclusions on what to do. The more I think of having to redo everything, the more i think of last times boot.ini hell.
Thank you for your time so far!

There was a talk at OSCON entitled "Eat My Data: How everyone gets File I/O wrong". PLEASE PLEASE contact the author and see if he can give a talk to you guys on it. Speaking as a developer, it was very informative (and highly amusing!)
Even if you're doing it "right", it still doesn't hurt, you know? Also, have you guys considered storing the settings via an ACID compliant embedded database (SQLite3 comes to mind, since you guys use Python).

Could it be that you are hiding all brackets? It did this to my overview by default too after the patch. Go into overview settings and select Show All Brackets.

Man I love you.....Show all brackets solved the issues i described. If i can still remember your name when you pass a gate camp I might not pod you for it, then again my memory ain't all that great when it comes to names :). I am so happy not having to throw away all of my settings, the one thing I now have to get round to is the missing default tab in overview...which is a pain, now going to have to re-arrange a few things or just abandon tabs altogether. A limited fixed number of tabs without a more flexible one is kind of pointless.
Who came up with these brain dead changes anyway? FIRE HIM!

"Standard" bracket deleted for everyone. Windows suddenly having a life of their own and jumping about every dock and redock. Nanofitted t2 cruisers still the only viable pvp ships. No new lvl 4 missions for Sansha Nation (as far as Ive seen). A new button called "services" that dont seem to do anything.
Nope, not that great for me.

Could anyone quote the patch notes in which way they changed the startup process? Because I don't remember seeing something like that in the list. The game starts up faster now though.
Btw, I really like the small updates to the "My Orders" tab in the market, the ship explosion change and the increase in missile launcher capacity. Faction/DS launchers were boosted quite a bit. Didn't have any problems with lost settings, just the usual resizing/moving windows around.

I wholeheartedly agree, finally a patch that focused on the multitude of bug (Even though not all are gone). A big step on the way to a better Eve. And yes, the most fantastic thing is that eve starts very quick and smoothly now. Thumbs up CCP!! Keep up the good work. I'm on the windows client btw.

Maybe you should stop pulling dumb statements that make you look like a fool out of your rear end.

I especially love the way they nerfed suicide ganking.
32 man fleet fails to gank in 0.5 system
Confirming that hi-sec is now officially 100% safe.
