Whenever I play eve online whether it be the Premium or original graphics, it seems to shut off my graphics card within 10 minutes of playing (not my computer, it still runs). It cant be that EVE's graphics are too advanced for my card due to the fact I can play STALKER on highest settings. It will also do this when Eve is in original state, only time it doesnt turn off my Card is if I run EVE in Safe Mode (Not the computer). Ive updated the Cards drivers, deleted all dump's (which i thought was the real problem) and redownloaded Eve. I beleive it to be a problem with the codeing between EVE and my computer. Maybe manifest or w/e the hell that is. Would anyone know how to fix this problem, ill be damned if i got to run EVE in Safe Mode for the rest of my computers life.

What is your OS? What is your video card? What drivers are you using?

Same situation here. R1950 AGP is overheating in station enviroment. Normal temperature: ~80 C. Temperature in EVE (in space): ~90 C. Termepature in EVE (in stations): quickly rises above 110 C, then 120 C and PUF!
Changing settings to "interval one" helped before last patch (temperature in stations: about 105 C), but now it's above 110 C again and when it hits about 120 C graphic card turns off. Disabling station enviroment makes nothing.
This is problem only with stations. I have 60 FPS everywhere (with "interval one" setting), but GPU is overheating only while in station.

You need a new fan or something, that aint good. But that cant be my problem, my VGA runs at 35C and everything else is about the same.

Rather not. GPU fan is OK and I have 2 additional fans near graphic card. 100 C is normal temperature for this card. I have problems only with stations in EVE, in other applications it works fine.

Yea i was reading through your topic, seems you may have the same problem I do. At first windows gave me the errors I was having, telling me it deal with a memory dump, so i followed some guidelines on how to fix the matter, did everything I could and it still seems to shut my card down at random times (from 5 minutes of play to an hour at tops if im lucky) and it only does this when I play Eve. I think there must be a serious problem for certain graphic cards, I hope CCP will look into this matter as im not the only one with this problem.

I have had the same problem over the last two days. I never had any issue with Eve graphics (premium) until after this latest patch. Since then, after about five minutes, the screen starts flickering and finally my graphics card (Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS) causes the computer to crash. Diagnostics indicate that there is nothing wrong with my hardware, the driver is up to date, and I have no problems with any other game besides Eve.

I have the bad feeling, that my Graphiccard is a step further than yours: It started yesterday evening: Suddenly the screen went black for a short time and then all textures were mixed up. Ship looked plain white, space-background showed big module-icons, all colors looke inverted (dark gate looked white). This occurred still after a restart in different combinations and after 2 or 3 tries the screen even started to flicker and then went completely blank.
Then it started even in Windows after a few minutes: Strange, colored Points showed all over the screen in a regular pattern and soon the screen started again flickering and then went black. PC still worked ... Sound was playing, even the soft-shut-off still worked.
I tried another Driver for my VideoCard, but it didn't help. So i think Eve killed my Card.
Assuming i have to buy a new card, which one 'can do better' with Eve? Nvidia or ATI? Right now i have (had) a Nvidia 8800gts with which i was quit happy: I used AA over nhancer, bloom switched off and had good fps.
Thanks for ur advices in advance!

100 is way to hot for those cards theyll blow up at 110 anything over 80 on a radeon x1950 and id be worried.

Emerald ->
I doubt that EVE killed your card. Nvidia chips manufactured on the 65 and 55 nm scale have enormously high failure rates of 10 -20%. This includes the GeForce 8800GTS. Nvidia had a batch of parts which they had no way of telling which were defective.
I have a zotac 8800GT AMP! edition that runs great, but there's some known issue where some cards circuit board makes a funny buzzing noise when under load.
All in all I would recommend the Nvidia GTX280, which is currently the fastest video card ever made, and I doubt that Nvidia used the bad batch of parts for their new flagship model.
Everyone else ->
Phone eve support to see if there's any known issues with your particular cards make/model. If not, phone ATI to see if there's any known issues.
Most modern computer hardware has a built-in kill switch that shuts down the hardware as it gets too hot. Check to see if your X1950 has any known heat-sink issues. Don't forget that the fan is not the only part of the cooling system.
In the end though, if your card is heating up so much that it shuts off, there's a serious problem. This will kill a card over time (as will running in excess of 100C).
That fact that EVE causes the issue, and STALKER does not is not necessarily indicative of a software defect. Different applications use different features of video cards, and may or may not end up taxing the card under load.
I hope this helps!

I'm getting this, basically I loaded eve, changed my skill & switched some overview settings (at a gate), then warped to another gate & the monitor said 'no signal' tried keyboard shortcuts to shut down PC no response so it's not just the card switching off.
Athlon phenom x4 asus mobo radeon 4870 ocz ram
edit - then I logged in after reboot & it did same thing straight away.
idiot edit - disabled sound & it worked fine guess it doesn't like my rackmount soundcard drivers

In response to the comments on video card temperatures...
I don't think this has a better than 50/50 chance of being a heat-related problem.
I say this because over the summer, shortly after moving, I spent several weeks without a functioning AC unit for the room I keep my computer in. While docked EVE would routinely heat my Radeon x1650 (AGP, built by Diamond) up to 90-93C, sometimes as high as 95 and would lock up disturbingly frequently.
After about a month or so of this I got the AC back and now being docked was only cranking my GPU up to 85C tops, and I was still locking up just the same as before.
I really can't say when the problem cleared up because after awhile I stopped spending more than a few minutes docked and logged in simultaneously just to stop having to tell XP to always show EVE-Mon because, for whatever strange reason, the auto-hide function has a memory like a long-term alcoholic with Alzheimer's. I do remember that the problem stopped ****ing me off around the time I replaced my ATI-supplied drivers with Omega drivers in an effort to fix a Pixel Shader 1.1 BSOD problem I had with corrupted ATI drivers that their (un)install software couldn't fix.
Of course there's one fairly big difference between this and the originally described problem. In my case not only did the graphics go out, either black screen or "hall of mirrors" (go edit a map and put up an untextured wall in Doom or Doom 2 if you don't know what this means) effect and, quite often, cause some very annoying electronic/audio pops and grinds to be put out by my sound card through the speakers.
Any rate, point being that I had exactly the same number of crashes before and after getting an AC going and fewer after I installed a different set/release/"brand" of drivers and, honestly, I first thought they were heat-related. Granted that some of them might have been, earlier today I had a similar crash from Mass Effect when I had my AC turned off to better hear the UPS guy knocking on my door (wasted effort that), but judging by the lack of recurrance (especially in light of the fact that after putting the omega drivers in I OC'd my GPU by 12.5% and OC'd the RAM on it by 9%, but I sincerely doubt the majority of them were at this point. ____________________

I'll check my temps as well (dunno about them atm), i have the same problem. Playing eve shuts down my videocard but the rest keeps running. (I have this since a few days (last weekend?).) I managed to create a screenshot of it just be4 it went haywire. http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/6725/exefile2008101418054231lg5.png
I'll also check that interval 1 stuff. Thanks for the tips.
Running eve windowed on xp64, 4gb, quadcore 2.4, geforece 8800 gts latest drivers.
