Edited by: Boozbaz on 04/09/2008 03:21:58 I heard after patch, maximum web efficiency will go down from 90% to 60%. Is that true?
When you web somebody traveling 1,000m/s with 50%, they would then travel 500m/s right? And if you webbed them again at 50%, it would then be 250m/s or is there some sort of penalty for using 2 webs on at once that reduces the effectiveness of the second web?
Finally, this may seem like a stupid question but seriously, where can I read the patch notes?

Edited by: Dirk Magnum on 04/09/2008 03:21:31 I actually don't think that there's a penalty when you multi-web someone, unless other people have been wrong when they explained this issue. The web change hasn't been made yet. It'll probably get introduced when the other speed changes occur.
Notes for yesterday's patch are here.

There is a penalty when you use multiple webs, because of the way they inherently work. If you slow someone down from 100 m/s to 10 m/s, the next web will only slow them to 1 m/s (using simple numbers). So the second one is far less effective from a numbers standpoint. However it can make a huge difference in game, so it can be very beneficial.

Well yeah the second or third web won't take away as much speed as the first, but the actual percentage of speed that's taken away doesn't change. 100 to 10 is 90% and then 10 to 1 is another 90%.

Edited by: Matalino on 04/09/2008 04:06:37 Webs do have stacking penalties.
The second web will reduce speed by 78% not 90%
Still, double or triple webbing someone is enough to bring them to a practical halt even if their base speed was 10km/s so currently the stacking penalty is not very noticable in most situations.
The proposed change to 60% webs, is still that: proposed.
New User Q&A is not really the place to discuss proposed changes. I would suggest finding an appropreate thread in the Game Development forum to discuss it further.
As for your question about target painters: they have an effect that is directly compariable to a tracking computer. Signature radius has vastly different effects on turrets than on missiles. The effect of a target painter on a turret is the same as that of a tracking computer, differing strength only by the effect of the Signature Focusing skill.
