Hi, is there any tricks to sorting your loot more quickly? Like which ones are best sold or which ones should be refined?
It gets to like 400 different types of modules and stuff quite quickly, so checking market value for each is very timeconsuming and tedious...
Thanks in advance

Well, experience counts here aswell. You will quickly get to know the modules that sells well and which ones who doesnŠt. You can either refine the rest or save them to sell them in bulk at systems who require that kind of equipment - for example is the prices on missiles and missile equipment not good in Amarr systems - sell those in Caldari space instead and so on. Hope it helps. Oh - and for station management I use giant secure containers to sort the different kind of modules.

I keep large turrets, large ABs/MWDs, non-steel 1600mm plates, and meta 4 items to sell.
I reprocess everything else.
It's just a matter of memorizing the meta 4 items, really.

Pretty much this, plus large nos/neuts, though after while get to know what to keep, melt and leave behind etc.

I have 3 station containers.
T1 T1 Named T1 Best Named
Each of these has at least one module of everything I've ever found. This takes a while to build up, but not that long if you mission in the same area all the time.
I fill up a can named 'unsorted' with Loot - when I get 20k m3 or so, I open my T1 can, stack all, sort by type. Find the last module - its a warp stab or something. Then I drag all my loot from the Unsorted can into my T1 can, and choose "Stack All". DONT SORT THE CAN. Then I select everything after the warp stabs that were the last thing (its going to be everything that didnt already exist i the can), and drag that into my T1 Named can, STACK ALL. Take everything thats left after that (everything that didnt exist in either can), drag it into my Best Named can. Stack all. The 3 or 4 modules that didn't stack in any can, I check the meta level by hand and put in the appropriate bin.
Takes half a minute to do once your set up.
When I'm reprocessing - every few months, I take everything out of the T1 Can, and put one module from each stack back - its the most laborious bit - but you get in a rythymythmythmym (did I spell that right?). Named and Best Named I use on demand - either sell to inventors or fit, or ship to 0.0 to sell

Sounds good. Will have to give that system a try. Certainly better than going over your stuff one by one when hitting that 1000 items per hangar limit.

I don't. There are a couple of items that I put to one side but for the last 12 months 99% of it isn't worth the time/effort of sorting. I just reprocess the lot. |

Thats pretty genius! Using the tools to "work around" the limitations of the UI... Very good, thanks!
The only downside is that you need 1 of each to begin with and as "seed money" to get your sorting started...
Other than that it's a fantastic idea! I'll give that a go... Also: Since you filter it yourself anyway you could set all kinds of cans, like additional cans for stuff you want for yourself or certain modules moving to different hubs and so on...

If you don't need the money too hard, just keep it all and only sort it out when you have large stacks of everything.

There are a few rare cases where a lower meta item has preferable attributes to a higher meta item.
For example, 'Malkuth' launchers (Meta 1) have the lowest CPU requirements. So if you are trying to fit a ship that is tight on CPU, you might be best off with Meta 1 launchers.
However, I am not aware of any case where this sort of exception has any impact on the market value of the module.

Of meta 0-4, yes.
Though there are some lower meta items that are popular because they have lower cpu usage or less negative values (like the cargo space reduction for overdrives). Might be worth checking before deciding to sort everything that isn't level 4 out.

What I like to do is this.
When I am starting fresh in a station
First dropping off of mission loot. I check the market value of each item. If an item is over a certain value I sell it.
Second and subsequent loot drop offs. I open the station cargo hold and drop all of the loot at the bottom of the list ( I use the graphics, not just the details). I then hit stack all, everything that remains I check the value of and again if over a certain number I sell.
After a while all the crap items from the missions you do (each area tends to have missions that drop the same type of loot) you will have accumulated all the possible items you can get there. By doing the above steps you make it so that when you stack all, the crap all stacks up and leaves the valuable stuff which you then sell.
No more need to sort, though when I get bored I sometimes go through and sell/refine the lower cost items when they start getting to obscene amounts. (like when you have 20 mill worth of 10k items.)

I generally reprocess all meta-0 items except large turrets, large MWD, large energy transfers, and large nos/neuts. I keep ammo that I can use and refine the rest. Items that are greater than meta-0 get thrown in a container to be sorted through later.
