Doing Faction Warfare level 4 missions has become easy and boring. After a while i started to solve chess problem and tactical puzzles in the ingame-browser at sites like chesstempo.com while doing the missions (which is clicking on the "warp to & jump" button 80% of time anyways, thus not very attention-consuming). While getting millions of FW lp points and ruining the market for things like the custom office BPCs or Navy Scorpions (sorry for that ) this combination of FW missions and solving chess puzzles made my FIDE chess rating go up by 200-300 ELO points. I'd not train so much for chess without FW missions, this has become some kind of strange symbiosis and i wanted to say thanks to CCP and other the FW participators - because of you, I now regularly clobber players in my chess club, that were much stronger than me before
tl;dr: Gate- and stationcamping pirates and Minmatar/Gallente militiamen are not very effective at deterring carebears from lowsec-careberism |

Maybe the FW updates with Inferno will bring solutions, it will change a lot, from what I've heard so far. But I gave up proposing anything, because such proposals assume that people behave rationally, act as a homo economicus, but they don't. A few years ago we asked to increase the profitability of FW missions. This should lead to more missionrunners in that area, which should attract more countermilitia and/or pirate gangs which for their part should attract more FW fleet action etc. CCP did just that with new offers (reduced CNR Prices, CN Scorpion etc..). According to this there should have been a life injection into FW. But it didn't happen, the activity in FW lowsec stayed out. The missionrunners kept doing their missions in highsec, where they are earning less than half isk per hour, compared with FW missions (the risk of losing a ship here and there, because it's lowsec after all, is already included). And they invest much more in their ships, whereas the FW missions can be done in a rather cheap t2 ship with t2 modules, are easier, take less training time and are more relaxing. This doesn't make much sense, but that's how people seem to behave ... |
