I'm just throwing this out here, as I have no idea how difficult it would be to implement, but wouldn't descent-style interior dungeons be a neat addition for Eve?
Entering the bowels of a derelict station filled with pirates, or an abandoned asteroid-mine would be a very cool addition to the game, although obviously it would be a frigates-only affair.
This could also give high-lvl players something new to do, since advanced skills in combat would matter a whole lot more in the dungeons than just loading up the most expensive b-ship that isk can buy. Appropriate awards, of course, for risking your neck in one of the little ships :)
I am imagining that one would be abe to dock with a dungeon in the same manner as with a regular station, and from there it would have interior layouts similar to the way the docking areas look like.
I'm sure this is nigh-on-impossible to implement, and certainly a long shot, but it would add alot more value and depth to the game (and afterall we are all paying for the equivalent of a new game every few months...)

actualy what he's asking about isn't coming in Shiva since complexes will be open space things, while he's talking about an indoor style complex
Impossible to impliment? Hardly there are already some "colidable objects" that you can fly into although on a small scale, making a "room" in a 3d game is actualy easier than open areas, if you'll look back at the early 3d games they are all indoors.
A comvincing story to put them in would really be hard however, since firgates even small ones are around 15k-30k cubic meters. Which is about the size of 9x 20k square foot houses, Thats a big thing to be flying around inside a station ment to be walked around in by people.

Interior Dungeons:
Some parallels:
- Flying through the tunnel superstructure of an incomplete death-star.
- Flying through the bowels of a huge planetoid.
- Flying along a canyon down on a planet surface.
I think these would be very possible in a limited geometry sense. Rather than the challenge being twitch response to the threat of a collision, it would offer:
- the opportunity to lose line of fire or lock behind obstructing scenery.
- claustrophobic encounters at close range, making loadouts of short range quick firing weapons, the loadout of choice.

Though it would be super cool, I dont think a Descent style interior thing would work with the current version because you have so little in the way of ship control. IMO they need to let you use keyboard or joystick or something to maneuver frigs (but not bigger ships) around, would really shake things up Id think and make small-scale stuff like this more possible. _________________ [SAK] And Proud Of It! aka Cpt Bogus Is that my torped sig cloaking your base? |

I suggested something like this over a year ago during the beta - still it would be nice if the devs read it and make a note for something exciting to do with dungeons after the complexes are in by doing these inside areas.. how exciting would that be? -----

Hehe...From the perspective of someone who has had some hands on with this sort of thing, I have to say you are slightly mistaken.
As far as what you are refering to...there is no "indoor" or "outdoor"...there is only skybox, or no skybox. It is only a matter of poly counts, vis distances, and engine load.
Everything is built in a "room" of sorts...it's all in how you paint it.
