- 2 hour invention jobs are too short, increase the time and the number of runs by a factor of 10.
- able to drag / drop BPs in the S&I window; and able to contract more than one BP at a time.
- max jobs a char can do, should also show a number available, such 4/10.
- remove the invention job completion window
- remove invent option from BPOs right click window
- remove copy option from BPCs right click window
- double clicking on an order in Orders should be equivalent to View Market Details, not Show Info.
- remove end date of a job, and change it to Time Left in the S&I window, and place it alot more towards the right by default. Can also remove Start Date to make more space. - batch job idea is awesome

I agree with the above poster - it would make sense, from a UI point of view to remove all the impossible actions from the UI. Another one that can be removed is the 'propose lockdown vote' option for BPCs.
The problem is that this involves checking whether a particular blueprint is an original or a copy whenever anyone right-clicks on it, which would be almost as bad, from a database performance point of view, as adding icons to distinguish BPOs from BPCs, for the reasons already explained at length elsewhere in this forum.
Frankly, I think that these features are worth a performance hit. How much worse would it really be? Is it not even worth testing it and seeing whether an acceptable compromise could be made?
Alternatively, how about adding keyboard commands for 'hide BPCs in all open windows' and 'hide BPOs in all open windows'? ----- DIY copying in Liekuri 20:1 mineral compression Nomad JF for sale |

Edited by: Nemtar Nataal on 14/09/2008 19:08:12 Edited by: Nemtar Nataal on 14/09/2008 19:07:49 What about allowing factory jobs to be sold or put on the open marked threw escrow.
A person can setup a factory job as a escrow and then a random person can claim the job and build it for him and then deliver it back when its done.
Im thinking a system where the person who wants the job done setup the entire job and the 3 party supplier just clicks and executes the job. The items for the factory job should never be in his personal hanger and thus could never be stolen.
Allowing the industrialists to put factory jobs on the open marked and buy labor from any 3 party supplyer, would really reduce the need for for factory alts and it would spawn a sub profession.
EDIT: Something that would be very helpfull for the T2 component industry or the use of POS's as factories in general would be if you could find some way to stack corp hanger space at pos's so you wouldnt have to move minerals, reactions and components between difrent hangers in diffrent factories to use them.
There must be a way to just add the total capacity of a pos together and allow it to be accessed from one central point.
Why is this important
- Well you wouldnt have to go to your pos that oftent to move around components for factory processes.
[*]You wouldnt need as many people with direct assess to the pos - risk is lower for big industrial corps. [*]Less logitstics in general.

Simple things:
- when you select a BPC for manufacture, display the BoM info from the blueprint in the manufacturing interface, along with the quantities of those materials in your hangar.
- (not really interface but) more, many more public lab slots. I rarely bother doing any research (though I would like to) because I don't want to plan weeks ahead to book a lab slot.
- Default to selecting 'first available slot' at the current station. If there are open slots for manufacturing (or research) I don't care which one I use. I only care about whether there are slots available or not, and if so how many.

A few things off the top of my head; the main issue is co-ordinating manufacturing within the corp itself which is very difficult and inefficient and is compounded by very inflexible access mechanisms.
Corp Office Hangers
-Allow use of corp BPCs with materials from personal hanger; delivery to personal hanger as well -Able to lock down BPCs and BPOs in corp hangers -Allow viewing and installation of jobs from containers -Allow viewing and use of materials from containers -Enable sub-divisions of corp hangers to be uniquely defined at each corp office as each office has potentially different functions and access requirements
Material/Stock Management
-Allow setting up of buy orders straight from BP material requirement lists i.e. right click on BPC and then select buy all materials needed. Also enable function of linking these orders to BPCs so with multiple large projects underway other corp members can see what the raised buy orders are relating to, so can determine what outstanding materials need to be procured. Able to filter out which jobs have their materials completely purchased so production can begin -Setup central corp production list that members can view and pick/install jobs off for corp. Would be linked to a ôfavourite listsö so corp directors can order through corp manufacturers standard setup ships with all the modules and ammo needed -Enable reverse charging for corporation jobs so corp manufacturers can be paid for their work by the corp -More security for corp assets whilst allowing more access for members. Often co-operation and membership involvement is restricted due to very poor game mechanics regarding access and interfacing with corp assets. Tends to be directors only handling corp production due to this -Formation of ôuse onlyö access for materials/BPCs in a hanger so members can install corp jobs without having the option to swipe all the corp assets. To prevent malicious or incompetent use of materials these would be signed off/approved by a director before they are actually installed
General
-Installation of multiple jobs at a time -Enable queuing of production/invention jobs in terms of your personal slots -Search region installation by free slots/current queue instead of clicking on each installation individually. Also add historical use figure to see how much an installation is used typically when finding a manufacturing/invention/research base to work from

Lets say I'm manufacturing megathrons and I have just random amounts of minerals in my hangar. I pop in say 5 runs for 5 total megathrons but the quote says NO I dont have enough. I technically have enough for 4; but it doesnt tell me how much I'm missing of whatever mineral. Toward getting that 5th megathron. If I set the runs to 3 it doesnt tell me that I could make 4.
How about a dynamic Quote page so I literally can change the amount of runs quickly. It also tells me exactly the maximum amount of run I could limited by the resources. Perhaps even a quick button which sets runs to the max runs.
I'm liking what else I'm seeing in the thread otherwise :) Though personally I'm looking more of new additions like a stock market for the game with stocks/shares become useful and such. This.
Additionally, you could port the dynamic quote page over to the client to have it crunch out the details (the math behind resource use and job install costs aren't exactly secret). This ought to lighten the DB's load, as the client can temporarily store info on available resources and the current per-run cost of the BP, and can then the player can adjust the amount of production runs and observe the projected resource costs.
Once the player's got an optimized build set, hit the "confirm" button and then the EVE client talks to the server, verifies that the assembly line is available and all resources are still there. Once we have confirmation, the job is installed and builds away.
Alternatively, where you have the option to choose the number of runs, have a "maximum run" button where the maximum amount of runs is crunched out according to available resources...

Originally by: Jason Edwards I pop in say 5 runs for 5 total megathrons but the quote says NO I dont have enough. I technically have enough for 4; but it doesnt tell me how much I'm missing of whatever mineral.
Uh, yes it does. I've been building alot of stuff lately (and running out of various materials), and there is a column showing how much short I am for the given build size selected.
But I do like yours & Gerard Deneth's ideas about having the client calculate the various materials requirements, letting the user quickly see the effects of different build sizes, and also having a "max runs" button that chooses the maximum number. The "max runs" would need to take into account the materials needed, the BPO/BPC production limit, and the 30-day job limit.
I also think the S&I interface needs to have a method to select the source for all/each build materials ("My hangar, Station Warehouse X, Corp Hangar Y", ...). Furthermore, the deliver button needs to work more like the "Deliver to member" behavior (enabled by Security Officer role iirc), except that the options should match the materials source selector.
I haven't read the voluminous posts on the "show BPCs different than BPOs" discussion. How about the idea that a particular BPC's item id is unique over the lifetime of the BPC and therefore the client should be able to cache the fact that item id "X" is a BPC (after the very first "show info") and show it different than a BPO until the client hears from the server that it isn't a BPC anymore. Sure, there could possibly be things painted by the client as BPCs which are now BPOs (highly unlikely; would require a BPC's item id to be re-used by a new BPO), but they would resolve the first time you did a "show info" (and the client was told it is a BPO). Has that idea been floated already?

Problem: providing corpmates with the ability to use PoS labs for research requires a large number of roles. Some of the roles give the person more permissions then the corp might want.
Solution: Add or change a role to allow a member to use a PoS from their personal hanger if they have the remote skills. It would also be helpful to, as stated in another post, allow the materials to be present in the station rather then the PoS.
This would reduce the rights any particular corp member has, and also remove the requirement of allocating a tab to be used by everyone. there were many suggesstions about using materials from a can. simply changing the way remote skills are utilized should make everyone involved happy. We want corpmates to gain from being in a corp, but also eliminate the risk of giving them the added abilities.

A Orders screen modification.
Allow us to create folders (or other similar mechanic) similar to how we use folders/groups for drones
Allow these folders to be named what ever you want to call them, and move a sell order into this folder.
I hope that something along these line would allow up to better manage high market listings (on avg I try to manage 150-180 at a time) as currently there is no way (apart from the eve mail when an order is sold out I put forth earlier) to quickly determine what needs to be relisted/restocked, it is a very slow and manual process to check each order against a spreadsheet to determine gaps in your listings.

Currently when you train a skill, the server figures out the date that the skill will finish, and when that date comes, it ends your skill and adds its skill points to your character. This is a lot less work than giving everyone a skill point every few seconds, however, the skill points listed on your character sheet don't take into account the points from the skill you're currently training because the server's list of total skill points don't update until the skill finishes. There's no reason for this. Make the client estimate the amount of points you've gained so far from the skill you're training and add it to the (running) total of skill points you currently have.

Would it be possible to implement on the corp blue prints the tab sections of the hangers they in,like when you are doing an assets search it gives u the tabs to look in.
This would help matters a lot.
Also on capital part bpc's is there any way that the time for copying can be reduced and runs increased, when making a capital ship it does not take me long to fill all the slots up in the factors of an amarr outpost (I know add factory module, costs 2 much lol)
thanks in advance

when starting a job, why not let eve auto select a random free slot (random to avoid someone picking the same one and causing conflict) or if there is no free slot, auto select the one with lowest wait time.
its not like you have many options to choose from regarding what installation and slot most of the time when starting a manufacturing/research. and who wants a slot start a job on a slot with a huge wait time?
wait time should be visible so you have the option of not starting the job or manualy change the auto selected slot if you really want to.
this should save some clicking, for example when compressing ore.

I'd like the ability to right click on items in my overview and tag them with colors, blinking, a special icon, something eye catchy, that I can use to identify things personally on the list such as. A station in system with my stuff in it, the belt I'm currently mining in or even a rock in that belt, a moon I've been scanning, etc.
The difference that I would like, different from how we can tag enemies in groups or set up general overview settings, is that I want the items that I've tagged to show up based on a separate overview setting like (always show tagged items) that way I can see just the roid I'm mining without having to see all of it's type and clouding up the overview with too much information.
Just a personal request. It seems it would even makes sense to limit the number of items you can tag, hell even make it a skill book as to the number of things I can tag. I would also recommend that the tagged items not be retained when I log off, because that would get confusing also. I just want something to help me out, in the moment, so to speak when I'm working in a particular system. Just a small convenience change.
Awesome job guys, keep up the good work!

perhaps a new Can type(or possibly hanger tab) that only holds bps... one that you can install jobs from and have them return to. Call it a Data storage unit or some such. this would probably require a slight change to the job install interface in regards to input and output locations, meaning there would have to be separate locations for the bp and the materials used for the Job.

More ideas:
Provide a clear indication that you need to rerent the office when retrieving impounded items if one of the items is a locked down BPO. This is not at all obvious. Ideally, remove this requirement
Suggestions for improving the Blueprints & Corp Blueprints tabs: Add a search box Add the options to filter by group; i.e. only show component blueprints, or only frigate blueprints, etc Allow filtering by ME and PE level i.e. only show blueprints with ME > x For BPCs, show the # of runs left ----- DIY copying in Liekuri 20:1 mineral compression |

So here are a few of my ideas:
DRAG AND DROP
When installing a manufacturing job (a ship blueprint for example) the current system opens a page where you choose from several drop down menus to select where, what, and how many you're planning to manufacture. As far as I can tell, the process after you choose these three things is that the database gets queried to see how many minerals it takes to build the ship, how many minerals you have in your hangar (or the source hangar) and then some other random details.
It seems like it would be easier, or at least a bit more user friendly if there was a drag-n-drop system in place. I'll give a for example to make it a bit easier:
1. Open the S&I interface 2. Decide what you're gonna do (invention, manufacturing, research this system could apply to all of these...) 3. For this example, we'll choose manufacturing 4. Window pops up with several drag-n-drop windows (similar to the trade window) 5. You grab your blueprint and place it in the blueprint reader window 6. The blueprint is read and it tells you how much/many of whatever you'll need to complete the blueprint, via some list or display that is part of the whole window. 7. You drag and drop minerals or components into the recieving window and as you drop, the numbers change to tell you how much more you need. 8. You click the start job button and the window goes away. Simple
With this kind of a user interface it puts all the information in one place: your blueprint, what it needs to be done (you could even put a few drop downs for how many runs you'd like to do), all of your minerals and components, the time to complete and the costs to start.
Idea 2
REMOVE FOCUS
At the very least, I'd like to be able to change focus during any step of the S&I process. Currently, when I begin a job, lets say I choose my station, my blueprint, the output hangar and the number of runs. Database query and it comes back with a window that says how much I still need of one thing or another to finish the job. I'd rather not have to remember that I'm short 5,308,312 Tritanium, 400,683 Pyerite, 482 Zydrine and 111 Megacyte, I'd also not like to have to find a pen and paper to write it down, nor would I like to go through the whole process of beginning the manufacturing job 4 times to get this same information as I switch over to my market interfact to purchase these things. Please let the minerals window be 'un-focusable' so I can switch to the market and save myself some time. Dr Cedric

The stuff I stumble upon the most:
- Slot management At the bottom of the blueprint tab it shows how many slots I can use. Honestly, I know that. How many of these I already use would be much more helpful.
- Materials Overview at installation (a) don't make it block everything (b) make it copyable! Neither eidetic memory nor pen/paper are desirable options to actually know what is missing once the market is open. Sometimes one even needs to evemail the missing stuff to someone.
- Invention success popup Fluffy text and all. Noone cares. Really. Make it like welcome pages so everyone can disable it after the first 20 inventions.
- Mobile Lab / Assembly Hangars (a)If I need to be within 5000m of the mobile lab/assembly array for its hangar to appear within the S&I corp blueprint interface, I don't need it at all. By then, I can simply open it. (b)One gets the icon to open the hangar at 5000m but until 3000m, you don't get a listing of the contents. ARGH!
- Build Packages In an ideal world, producing a blueprint at an assembly array within the solar system would take the materials from the station's corphangar and drop only the finished product in the POS allowing for one central raw material deposit which is remotely accessible (corp assets window). Seeing as this probably won't happen because of POS attack & loot issues - let us prepare 'build packages' in the station. These would contain the blueprint and all the materials needed to produce a certain amount of runs with it. So once I haul this single item package to the POS, I know for sure that nothing is missing and nothing will be left over (so we need to be able to select the assembly line type). BPCs with left-over runs and BPOs drop alongside the produced stuff in the structure hangar. It is important for these to show up in the S&I window when they are at the POS and I'm 17 jumps away, so that I can see "ah, in Rapid Assembly Array V three jobs are finished and there are another five 10-run packages inside" at which point I can then remotely build another three. This should be in addition to the current functionality, not replace it as it is very nice for invention output BPCs but one probablt would want to keep BPOs in station.
Sorting and packaging the materials, distributing them into multiple assembly arrays and keeping notes which array contains which materials for how many runs of which product so one can remotely build from BPCs inside a corp office is the single most annoying timesink for me.
- Batch Processing Here are 10 BPCs. Here are datacores for 10 BPCs. There are 10 free invention slots. Go.
- Invention Queue The main limiting factor for an industrialist is realtime. How much goods you can produce is simply limited by the time a day has and the amounts of slots you can use in parallel. So avoiding your slots idling around is crucial. Ever tried to saturate your capacities with 1h15min module invention jobs? Why not change the "x slots global" limit to a "x slots active" limit when using your corp's pos facilities? With a 121 job queue behind that "active" limit, one could schedule 15 hours of 11-slots-in-parallel invention. -- [17:47] <Mephysto> its dead, jim |

I've only just started the S&I stuff myself, and just spent the weekend planting High Sec POSes so this is what I'd mostly like to touch on.
Public Slots that work would be great. Make it happen, those of us that have Highsec towers could make make an economy out of renting out labs in areas with no labs nearby in NPC stations, or etc.
Alliance Slots that work would be great. I understand that the hangars / database thing is an Issue but I should be able to allow alliance members to use slots on tower, not just ME/PE research slots.
Add Director to the POS access screen. I would like to be able to restrict Unanchoring from everyone in corp preferably. But still allow them to use the labs, online/offline modules, manufacturing and etc. But not be able to Unanchor ANYTHING. I spent too long working my standings, waiting for them to rise in my corp for someone to accidentally offline/unanchor one of my towers. Like it was mentioned earlier I'd like to allow people to online/offline, anchor modules but not be able to unanchor the tower or modules.
View a Single POS' Slots. Sort research / manufacturing slots by the POS, not by module and type. I'd really like to open a window to display every slot my corp own by POS. So I can see which are open, which aren't, what's being built and researched and etc....
Lots of UI things that have been mentioned would also be nice. The POS ones are just the things that annoy me at the moment.
Thanks

1. Remove the useless row of checkboxes that has to animate EVERY time you open up the installation list. 2. Batch installation, ideally supporting batch installation in multiple installations (installing 10 bp's in 5 pos labs from the station in a few simple clicks, for example). 3. Change installation filter "current bp location" to "current valid installations", so we don't have to switch to "current system" EVERY time you install a job from station.
EDIT, forgot one:
4. When collecting 120 invention jobs, I REALLY don't want to click ok, ok, ok, ok for 15 minutes to get them all. Collect all the jobs and report aggregate statistics please.
Thank you.

Inventory/Materials List Available Tab Have a special tab that displays all the available raw materials stockpiled at a particular location. This should cover all minerals, salvage, T2 parts and invention/research parts. In summary, it works like a quick inventory for S & I.
I know you can view them from assets, but you're talking S & I improvements. Ideally, almost everything related to production and research should be nested within a single S & I window. Having to look for your materials in Asset just makes it clunky since you need to open 2 windows, in addition to having to filter out the contents.

Edited by: Chibisuke on 25/09/2008 08:50:58 - Sorting of blueprints in the S&I Window Could we get a list sorted by market categorys? (similar to the market window) That would speed up finding the right blueprint a lot.
- POS labs/assembly arrays. It would be nice to have all the assemblylines of the same type together. So have all copy slots in one list, ect. This would make management a lot easyer, and also I thing would make batch installing possible then.
- Batch installing installing 10 BPs in 10 (POS)labslots = 90 mousclicks currently. Please could we have a batchinstall, so mark the 10 BPs, select where you want to install them. Get a list of quotes and times, confirm, done.
- Blueprints seperated Currently there is a limit of 1000 items per hangar, so a corp that has many BPs needs to put them into containers, which requires you to be into the location of the BPs for installing. Remote installing pointless. Could we maybe have a seperated hangar for the blueprints, where you can only place BPs and nothing else, without that limit? Maybe even only accessible using the S&I window. Drag a blueprint to the corps/Personal S&I window to place is there, drag it from there to any other hangar to remove it again. Add a role for "Use blueprints" and "Take Blueprint". ... optional.. "Use BPOs", "Use BPCs", "Take BPCs", "Take BPOs". For BPCs that are identical (Same ME, PE, Run), the client could group them up, so you only see one stack of them. This together with my 1st suggestion would make blueprint management a lot easyer, would remove the need to place them into containers ect.ect.

yeah a cargo a can divider would be nice since you cant put a plakton field generator in another.

corporate wallet taxes, I would love to see divisions that have thier own tax rates of the intake the master corp wallet takes in, that way you can create divisions research funding and the sort.
