At least that's a universally accepted excuse.
Anyone defending this guy is doing it outside the facts for personal and organizational reasons.
Anyone disputing or resisting it is engaged in an exercise of futility.
The OP, however, is playing both sides like suckers to feed his already over-stuffed ego. One might wonder why an adult male with an alleged higher education is so rapt with the prospect of achieving notariety in a computer game. It's a time consuming endeavor, to say the least. The outside world's demands aren't forgiving in dividing one's attention so. The mere existence of this OP speaks volumes.

you dig him because you are both members of the same mental age group (12ish). you look at him and wish you where him, school yard politics young man, you can't handle your drink neither i'm guessing. but hey, in years to come, mittani will mature, he will look back at the video and think, **** i was a total prick when i was younger, he'll bow his head in shame, nobody would be proud of the comment he made, it will haunt him in the future.
EVE is just a game, but when you go live on the internet and act like an ape encouraging others to try make another human hurt or kill themselves you deserve to be banned from a game, all mittani got was a 30 day suspension, a little light footed for me.
mittani crossed a line and he knew he did the moment he said it.
CCP missed the opportunity to send a clear cut message to the community that this sort of behavior is not and will never be acceptable.
the fact that this thread is still running is saying CCP want this kept alive, to shame mittani ? or is this a show of solidarity with his attitude toward members of our community ?

The Mittani is not trolling anyone. It's people on the forums that keep this alive only because they can troll it, even though it's old news and has been dealt with.
It's about time people let this thread disappear into oblivion, but of course some trolls will keep it going just because they can. And of course some people will answer those trolls  and the whole cycle continues.

Apparently you didn't bother to consider that the Mittani isn't someone I idolize and you can't tell the difference between a bad joke and someone actually inciting others. I watched the clip, and I know the difference.
As for the guys setup, I really don't care. If he's running that many PCs and playing that many accounts something is wrong and it isn't his personal perspective on life. It might be that it's the only way to productively mine. 
Obviously you've got some issues with the Mittani that are somewhat inexplicable to say the least. I can't even fathom how someone like that could grate your nerves so much, but I've not had so much as a conversation with him or been on the recieving side of Goonie mischief that I am honestly aware of.
As for the guys mental state, (not the Mittani, the other guy), I call bs because I see bs. It has nothing to do with the Mittani or anything else, it's just bs. Anyone in the sort of mental state he describes-for the reasons he gives-would not be playing some game on 22 accounts and mining every day for hours on end. Psychologically speaking, it's highly improbable, and if you've ever been in that state you'd know it.
There is just no way for a person in that state to focus on something like that or continuously do menial or even complicated tasks. In short, they will break down and lose the ability periodically until they just can't do it anymore; then they will either hit rock bottom or they will do the unthinkable. The productivity level of such activities will steadily decrease in the process until they are just sitting there doing nothing. No lasers, no movement, nothing; they will just be staring at the screen while their mind folds inward. Simple fact.
If anything, activities like the Mittanis will break them out of it. It will give them something to fight, a reason to argue, and make them mad. Any other reaction indicates they are either lying or don't fully understand their state of mind. This doesn't account for all scenarios of course, but the alternative of complete apathy is likely also going to include them not playing at all. At the moment, I can't think of any other likely alternatives aside from that.
Choice of wording and sentence structure is also important, and I don't see anything in there to indicate he was telling the truth, where I do see indications that the opposite was true. This is EVE and I would expect people to expect that. Very rarely does anyone in this game-or on the internet for that matter-actually tell the truth or refrain from some form of deception.
So, in short, I don't put much stock in the guys assesment of his state of mind, but more importantly, I don't see the Mittani as inciting anything, but rather making a joke in poor taste while he was drunk that was taken out of context here. That doesn't help CCP or the Mittani, but it remains to be true and I generally believe the Mittani when he says he would never really wish that on anyone.
I've seen mu8ch worse from players of EVE and other games and been subject to it, and like it or not there are people who honestly wish you harm and would like it if they could get you to kill yourself just by talking to you, and it doesn't really matter who you is as long as you are not one of them. This is not the Mittani from what I have seen.
Frankly Crimson, I think you need to step back and get some perspective.
