I am fairly new to Eve, so new that this years fanfest was the first I watched. And the appearance on the Alliance panel was the first I saw of The Mittani. But I take your word that he is a great enrichment to this community.

About his appology for his missdoings I'm sceptic. True he was drunk during the panel. But I don't think he was drunk when his corpmember told him the story about this miner. He probably wasn't drunk when he made the power point presentation and I don't believe he was drunk when he intentionally made the decission to mock this player in front of tousands of people.

I see that some may say that his good deeds outweight this one mistake, but this is the price for his fame. Him stepping down as CSM Chairman would be the absolute least to do. Giving all his ISK to the victim, fair enough. Harassing The Mittani even after he takes this actions, too much and also a bit hippocratic.

Personally I think that what was said at fanfest was somewhat tame by goon standards. However, compared to other years, I thought that the Titani's presentation sucked.

You know a couple years ago the CSM was a total joke that nobody cared about. But now that Mittens has turned it into something awesome, the whole landscape has changed. Look at all the people who take this so serious, so e-honorish seriously. We have internet legal opinions flying around from people who most likely have no damn clue what they're talking about (Princess Bride ), we have other CSM members JUST ITCHING to take advantage of the downfall of the man who made them powerful (Darius III), and then a brothel runner who thinks that because Goons are defending their leader's position on the CSM that we all must be a religous cult, lacking individual thought processes (Jade Constantine)

When the hammer falls, and you are pulling your hair and gnashing your teeth and scream WHY??!? you can come back to my posts that you say "likely have no damn clue" and figure out what happened from there. Alex really HAS put CCP in an awkward position legally and they have no choice but to act. You'll know what I'm talking about soon enough. (Okay that may be too much to hope for, but you will at least have an inkling that I was right.)

For me the best parts of this thread are the goons burying their beloved leader, one shovelful of hate at a time. By expressing so eloquently that most of the goons really don't "get it", you have helped make action by CCP in order to set an example almost 100% guaranteed. Yeah I know, this is baffling and angers you greatly. That part is fun too, I admit.

Also, I find it laughable that this myth that The Mittani made the CSM not a "total joke" anymore hilarious. What I remember is he went to Iceland, full of promises of how his extraordinary real life political know-how (somehow proven in a game setting) was going to ensure full CCP compliance with the goon agenda. His return from Iceland was followed by the WORST Eve expansion ever and massive protests were undertaken. These protests, and much more importantly the massive un-subs, prompted CCP to reverse itself. The Mittani and the rest of the CSM were flown to Iceland again to be coddled by CCP and given a modicum of credit for the changes CCP was forced to make as a purely business decision. He/they returned "victorious" from a battle that was won before they even left the ground in their plane.
