Before you folks call me names, let me explain. I have a young baby so occasionally have go leave mid battle and tend to a nappy or whatever for a minute or so (how dare RL cutting into Eve play). Currently I am an a drake and can tank any level 3 mission so can do this and still come back to a intact ship. I understand that a Raven is best active tanked BUT can I do it so that I could I at least minimise the risk of when I have to go to a unexpected RL AFK, the ship will survive. Please check my skills too as I know they will impact on things. Any advice on how best to do this risk minimisation and a suitable fit out for it. Cheers All.

Large shield booster. EFT is your friend. But seriously, more people should have some type of spacer in their sigs to show it's not part of the post.

If I recall correctly, no level 4 mission requires you to tank more than 500 raw dps... so if you can EFT up any setup that manages that and is cap stable, then you have your ship.

It's not too common, though missions like WC will be over that. I tank about 580 specific DPS and still have to kite occasionally to let the reps catch up, like second wave of Blockade or if you accidentally cop a whole room =P

Large shield booster is not enough in some missions.

armour tanks are more sustainable than shield tanks, and a solid dual rep tanked ship will be quite afk friendly. the domi does this well and the apoc and abaddon can do it too. but thats a long way away in terms of skills.
you may need to throw isk at your problem, get a fancy large shield booster and boost amplifier. also have stations/planets/gates on your overview and just hit the warp button.
i assume you kill all the scrambling frigs first so you should be able to escape. makes for sucky travel time when you need to run back through the gates, but at least it keeps your ship safe. just dont do that with fancy expensive modules onboard! Because sometimes you just have to go back to your roots: [2005.02.20 01:08:03] (combat) Your Civilian Light Electron Blaster perfectly strikes Serpentis Smuggler, wrecking for 20.3 damage |

Just use EFT to find a setup that will let you permarun a Large Shield Booster, and be able to tank a good amount of dps (500 raw dps, as someone else said.)
However, the domi is the ulimate afk missioning ship - while it's not as fast as a raven, its dual LARs will tank nearly all missions and you can just leave the drones to do all the hard work.

Edited by: Ralara on 11/09/2008 11:09:34 If you have your heart set on a Raven then either:
1) You'll have to deadspace fit it for a true "perma tank" that will run constantly, allowing you to go for 10 hours if you want and it'll still be running when you get back...
or...
2) Get a Golem and with a tech 2 fit you can get that perma running too.
or check it out here:

though I'm not a fan of those kinds of setups since you waste a load of low slots (damage mods) for it.
Up to you. --
