I've been having funky looking artifacts appearing in EVE lately, though its only been with EVE so far. I updated to the latest drivers and that hasn't solved much, I'd actually say its acting up a bit more now. Starting to worry me a little bit :(
EVE - Funked up
I have an 8800GT with 512mb ram, any ideas?

wow, the title of that pictures is indeed fitting. if your not having issues with anything but eve, i would say its the client. have you tried a fresh install of the client? or would any kind of new hardware/software coincide with when the issue started? if your answers are yes and no respectively. then i would lean more toward a dieing VC. I would at least try reinstalling and seeing what ccp says if that doesn't fix it. GL and danm dood, i didnt know anyone had less than 1 gig anymore. i think its safe to say its not a vista issue lol.

seeing as most graphics cards only come with 512mb and very few come with 1gig or more mosst people have less than a gig. |

No. As far as I can tell it just started doing this, nothing new was installed nor changed when it began and I haven't reinstalled EVE yet. I want to try that as a last resort. I've updated my drivers and that's been about it.

The video card has 512mb of ram, my system has 2gb. I'm running on a pretty decent machine that's just getting to around a year old and I'm running XP:
3.0ghz Intel core 2 duo processor, 8800GT 512mb, 2 gigs of DDR ram. I guess I should also mention that it happens the most when I'm running two clients (I run windowed mode@1680x1050 for both clients). It has happened just running one though.

a fresh install is really all i can say. if that doesn't help then look at your hardware/drivers. also if you don't already know, its best to run two clients from separate installations.

Try updating DirectX before you go spend time reinstalling. Eve has done afew strange thing the past few weeks that'll be solved with the last update. worth a shot at any rate. -------------------------

After last EVE patch I have problem as DruzidelCastro wrote. I have GeForce8800GTX with 768mb video ram, 2Gb ram, updated drivers. EVE client work less than 1-2 minutes. After that time I see lags as in DruzidelCastro's example. Reinstalling EVE client is not solve this problem.

in eve esc | display and graphics | advanced | set present interval = 1
this will make eve not stress your card as much.
it could be a cooling issue on your GFX card but try ^ that

Upgraded GeForce drivers partially solve problem with EVE client crash on NVidia GeForce 8800GTX, but not all. Client only work in classic and windows mode. Any attemps work with premium graphic or fullscreen crash system.

I had exactly the same graphical errors yesterday in Eve like the op.
But now i get also artifacts (like i already mentioned in other threads) in windows without eve started.
I have a 8800gts with 640MB (very first edition), but now i think i must say i 'had'.
Really, i think eve killed my Card ... new drivers didn't helped. I can't work with windows anymore. It starts with pixels in regular pattern all over the screen, then in usually flickers before it goes plain blank.
Windows works normal, as long no graphiccard-drivers are loaded. Otherwise i have a black screen within a few minutes.
Question is: what graphic-card should i buy next?

CCP, you seriously should have a look at this! Or maybe give a option to limit max fps only on stations (like that interval method).
Or a option to limit max fps in generally, cause this interval method isn't the best. It seems to make the game a little 'like gum'.
But otherwise i'm not a programmer nor i understand much of graphics.

With all of these 8800 series problems it makes me wonder if these are having an issue similar to nVidia's laptop GPUs. I am also wondering what PSU's are being used with these higher end cards. Since if the cards aren't being fed enough juice the will die.

Funny, there have been problems with the 8800 cards (all of them) going back as far as october last year. The only real answer I ever found was to downgrade the drivers to the oldest possible ones and it generally fixes the problems.
Also, if you still use the stock cooling system on those crappy 8800's, I'd suggest that you seriously consider getting an aftermarket one.

From what I understand, Nvidia had some bad batches of GFX cards get to market. It effects not only the 8800, but other cards from Nvidia.
Quote from the inquier article:
Quote: Both of these ASICs have a rather terminal problem with unnamed substrate or bumping material, and it is heat related.
After reading these areticles,
1) it sounds like the gfx cards burning out isn't caused by eve, but by bad manufacturing.
2) doing the set interval = 1 helps because it helps keeps the card from burning itself out even though it is fully capable of rendering the higher frame rates
3) turning up fan speeds helps for a bit, but the card still burns itself out, again not do to eve but due to bad manufacturing
It would seem, according to the articles, that these are just bad parts, keeping them cooler and reducing the frame rates they render is just glossing over the real problem, the cards aren't up to the task they were designed to do and are dieing.

I had very similar display 'Bugs' to this about a year ago - turned out that I had forgotten to plug the extra power connector into my graphics card after a dusting session
