CCP, please allow all ships in the game to have the ability to anchor in space, essentially what this means is that your ship WILL NOT MOVE unless you weigh anchor. It should be a simple button to click with no time restriction and you should be able to disengage it at any moment. I'm bringing this up because I have a tendency to click all over the play when I'm in missions and while I'm looking at my target my ship is lazily flying off into the great wide abyss. Perhaps if it only happened once in a while I would not complain but everytime I look back at my ship after targeting another ship/player sure enough its moving off to who knows where

I'm sure you didn't get a reply the first time since many don't think we need to spend time on a feature to help someone who doesn't take the time to pay attention in the first place.

Actually this is interesting, but not in the silly context introduced by the OP.
It's kinda cool that you steal ships which have been carelessly left in space or accidentally-on-purpose-bumped-out-of-the-POS-shields-by-this-really-careless-person-whom-you-absolutely-do-not-know-no-siree.
But if you could anchor a ship - like anchoring a container, including the same time restrictions (but not spatial) - you could leave that wyvern safely within the confines of its POS shield. Or even anchored at a safe spot if you were especially special in an empty headed kind of way.
Anchored ships could be still be blown up of course, but you couldn't jump into them and drive off... Unless! You had a hacking skill or somesuch which would cause the anchored ship to... un-anchor. Kind of like another profession I guess. --- Not happy with something in EVE? An emo whine will doubtless help your cause. |

What perspective? The one where we go, "gee something that allows me to remove myself from the game even more, F1-F8 here I come!"
It's a bad idea.

While an interesting idea, it is unlikely that CCP would implement something like that. it would be a fix for the infamous "bump the ship out of the POS forcefield with a pod"Ö tactic, it would also open the doors to people leaving more ships out in the open which eats up more server resources even if there's nobody in them. As far as the issue with wanting to stay still in missions, a far easier solution is to simply set your max speed to almost 0 so that if you do wind up moving, and you don't want to, you will really not go much of anywhere, then when you're ready to move on, just set max speed to the max again and move on. ------------------------------------------------ In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made alot of people very angry and been widely reguarded as a bad move. |

you can't blame for ppl having their own perspective.
anyways, anchor a ship because you click on wrong buttons.... come on, eve doesn't need a feature because you got hyperactive fingers
anchoring a ship in a pos shield to not get bumped out? first: the POS shield was never intended to be a safe spot for ships that are unmanned, there's a nice POS module called Ship Maintenance Array where you can easily store your ship and nothing will bump those out. second: sadly bumping ships out of POS became a acceptable tactic in eve (well not for the one getting bumped), because you can only be bumped out of a POS shield if the password has been compromised or there is no shield at which point they wouldn't bump you at all.
so at the first sight it seems like a nice idea, but imho it's not needed.
keep em coming

1) Use Ctrl-Click on your OVERVIEW to target, NOT Double-Click in space.
2) If you just wanna LOOK at something, use right-left click and drag, or left-click-hold-context menu zoom.
3) NEVER double-left-click unless you WANT TO FLY SOMEWHERE.
Problem solved, no need to waste programmer time.

I think my OP wasn't clear on what the problem was cause I'm getting too much feedback about POS's which is not what I wanted at all so I will clarify in my next post
