Some of you may recall Spectre3533's recent ransom board project. Spectre has since paired back on his EVE-time, and as such could not continue the project himself. I offered to take over the project, and I'm proud to present:
http://www.ransomboard.com
Please note this is still in beta. This is a direct continuation of Spectre's old project. All corps that were part of Spectre's beta have been added to the current incarnation. Links below.
Aduro Protocol VMF-244 Blacksheep The Carebear Stare Python Cartel The United Tuskers Veto. Corp
All board passwords have not changed. Please contact me via email if there is a problem accessing your board.
Much thanks goes out to Spectre; without him none of this would have been possible. Expect lots of shiny updates to come! This thread will be updated with each update.
If you are still interested in getting into the beta, I may have a few more slots. Please e-mail (do not evemail, I am currently unable to get ingame) me; my contact information is readily available on the main page.
Happy ransoming!
Release version 0.1.0 -Comment system! You can now post comments to ransoms using your board password. Expect this to be exanded in the near future. --Random Links:-- eve-pirate.com, read and share your Yarr adventures |

Edited by: Gunner Cid on 17/09/2008 10:33:14 Yea, by far the best drake ransom ever, while as that post says, ransom via ejection.
Full story is we tackle this drake on a gate, put him into armor and such, so I convo him up ask him to pay 75m iirc, he refused, so we start engaging him again and for some damn reason he ejects.
We get a couple more jump ins at this time, I think a bs or so (it was a while ago) so we handle the situation then I go and dock, come back and board the drake. Standard fit until I looked at the rigs, it had 3 T2 Field Purger rigs on it, they sell for about 200-230m per. So I get the thing hauled to jita and toss it on contracts for 630 bid 800 b/o, someone bid on it and it sold.
Was definitely a good score.

I was never a fan of the project, but i'll offer some constructive criticism - Show pictures, get some decent web design. Model it off of killboards, if possible.
And if you're really good, you could use API, if I'm not mistaken, to verify wallets transfers.

I don't claim to be a professional web developer by any means, this has been more of a learning experience for me than an actual display of programming skill. Before I start focusing on improving the layout, I'm trying to get most of the basic functionality in place. Once that's true, I can focus on improving layout/aesthetics/etc. As stated, this is only the beginning of the project. I have a number of functional things to take care of before I start focusing on the aesthetic side.
Another note is I'm doing this in my free time as a student, so while updates will come, it takes me a bit of time to get around to finalizing them. I'm trying to provide a functional tool as best I can with my knowledge and resources. I'm more than receptive to criticism, and thanks for it. As I've already said, once it works, then I'll make it pretty.

Anyways, suggestion \ request \ do-this-and-I-will-make-sweet-love-to-you:
- On the main page, can it be sorted from newest to oldest? We got several ransoms today for instance, and the order in which their displayed isn't right.

Did you seriously ransom a Merlin for 20 million ISK after I logged off? I hate you mother****ers.
Anyhow, when I originally wrote this stuff it based everything upon date but didn't factor time into the sorting. This is why ransoms from the same date will sometimes be in a wacky order. I am sure that Xasz is planning on remedying this soon because he is the man. ----- My Pirate Blog: http://evenewb.blogspot.com/

Yup. We were killmail whoring, so when I got on the field I scanned him, saw the rigs he had, so we ransomed him.
The best part is that Mori wasn't part of the ransoming party, he was lurking a few systems away. After we let the Merlin go, he went a few jumps away and started ratting again, and got popped by Mori
We also probed a missioning Tempest and got him to eject. Never log off, Spec. Never.

Expect a fix soon (tm). Gotta get most of this admin stuff done first.
Oh, and 0.2.0 rolled out today. It's almost entirely admin features, so there's really no noticable difference for regular users. Config settings are now editable through the admin panel, as well as a couple new features, of note the ability to "view protect" your board (which is currently sorta ugly, but I'll make it nicer, I promise). Expect admin functionality to be expanded in the next few updates.
P.S. I know the body color isn't really customizable, just bear with me on that for now.

That's in the next update. Unfortunately, my laptop charger broke, so no new updates this week. I'll have my desktop up and running again this weekend (yay! can play EVE again!) and will resume development then. Next update will continue to expand on the admin features (such as the ability to edit) and some fairly large security insurance changes.
And the weird comment changes were an oversight on my part... expect a fix in the next update. Seriously, I have like, no idea how that happened, but I fixed it.
As to your broken ransom I can manually edit it for now... I'll also add a check for blank pilot fields to prevent that from happening again. Sorry .
Like I said, it's likely that updates will be pushed back until next week (when I have a working platform to code them on!), but rest assured, they will come. |

Seeing as killmails can be just as easily faked, theres no point. Tagging a transfer as "ransom" wouldn't work too well either since most ransomees are too busy getting the isk out in time to remember or bother. And since the boards aren't public in the Battleclinic sense, theres no point in faking a ransom.

Pretty much this; if you can come up with a reliable way to fetch ransoms from wallet transfers then hats off to you. There's really no incentive to "fake" a ransom if your word - and your corp's word - is worth anything. Then again, this is EVE Online.
Treat it more as an internal reporting tool than a "brag board."
EDIT: Minor update to the OP, added a list of known bugs.

Version 2.1 and 2.2 released.
Version 2.1 contains the ability to upload custom banners for your board, and can be found in the admin panel. This version also contains a few new validation checks to prevent strange errors (like blank pilots). The Firefox comment display bug is still there, but it's less pronounced. A permanent fix is still forthcoming.
Version 2.2 contains a number of backend security/validation changes. |

To access this functionality, browse to (for example) http://<YOUR BOARD>.ransomboard.com/igb.php (where <YOUR BOARD> is your board's unique subdomain) in game and trust the page. Your portrait will be ripped and appear on the ransom board. -Admins may now delete comments when logged in as an admin -Re-fixed issues with apostrophe names
and off the record: -Began working on a new UI (long term, but just know it's in the works!)

LOL, so....how did you happen to get the points to fit 3 TECH 2 purge rigs on a drake? Cause its impossible to do.....try it
/fail
Least if you are gonna make something up do your damn research
Well as you have been told now, you can fit them on there.
As far as your claim, you clearly did not look into the matter at all. Faking **** is beneath my corp and myself.
The drake was a gift to that pilot from his corpmate, I offered to sell it back to him but he had no cash/wanted to trade me junk mods for it. If you were somone that mattered I could give you supporting chatlogs, my alt that I sold it with on contracts(so you could view history), the name of the pilot that bought it, wallet screen shots etc, none of this is needed though.
