I mean beyond the necropheliac responses that characterize the limits of player responses so far. I know it sounds like a morbid waste of time, but I've found myself collecting corpses! Isn't there some biotech industry or medical school market for cadavers? Think of it as recycling.
The developers leave bodies floating around the universe; why not make them useful, or even better, profitable?

Player created? Or CCP created?
Also do the corpse disappear after a certain ammount of time?

player created, then ccp gave him a special spot for it, as they were in cans and ccp changed the cans, so gave him a special shrine type for it, sounds spooky!
i wish i knew how many of my corpses were in peoples hangers!

Some people collect corpses for just that reason, they are betting that the bodies will become useful/profitable someday.

Killing a players pod is actually rather hard in all but 0.0 so they ussually function as a trophy, the animals head if you will. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:
Players who post are like stars, there are bright ones and those who are dim.

There was talk a while back about possibly being able to salvage implants or some other product from them at some point in the future, but I think boosters came in at the following patch, so they may well have just done that instead.
The problem is that if they were useful people would be griefing noobs even more then they are now to get raw material.
The only genuine use I can think of is to not pick them up at gatecamps in the hope that they will decloak any recons/cov-ops that jump in. Note that dumping them at gatecamps trying to do the same thing is probably an exploit under the creating lag rules - if you cant do it with cans you probably wont be allowed with corpses.

Biomass on a gate is a cloakers worst enemy. Once, maybe twice. Then you learn to look out for it. Its more the embarrassment of accidentally uncloaking yourself on a corpse than the cost of losing your ship, although that could hurt too, depends on the depth of your wallet ;)

I scoop 'em, when I get a big pile I sell 'em all off, takes a while but I usually get about 100K a corpse. Some people get a kick out of having a big pile of corpses, others have issues with someone else having one of their corpses and will pay to have it returned. ---

We tend to give the corpse to the person who got the killing blow on the pod. Does indeed make a nice throphy.

I like to eat them.
No, really. I do. Pod pilots are delicious.
You have to know how to prepare them, however...
Gallente corpses are best left to simmer in their own juices for a while, sliced and served au juis, and served with a red wine. Don't cook at too high a temperature or you will destroy the delicate, nuanced flavors.
Minmatar meat is a bit dull, but it is still good for an old fashioned barbeque. Many corpses already come well-done because of the Amarr lasers - bonus for you, the work has already been done. (o:
As for the Amarr. The meat is very tough, so you will want to spend some time hitting it repeatedly with a mallet and work in some meat tenderizer. You will also want to slowly cook at a low temperature for an extended period of time, but eventually, the meat will slide right off the bone. Excellent for pulled-Amarr sandwiches. Add some wood chips during cooking (or liquid smoke if you can't be bothered) for a special treat.
The Caldari pod pilots pose an interesting problem, as the resonance from their ships' strong shields end up giving the meat a bit of a metallic flavor. I personally don't like it, but some say you could do worse than to steam the meat and serve it with a duck sauce over a bed of rice.
Hope that helps!
