I used to be able to orbit frigs at ~2.5km and do crazy good damage, now i orbit them and barely hit, and when i do its almost always scratches or light hits. Come on CCP...

erm...first of all what are you flying and second of all what ammo are you using. Also are you between the turret's optimal range and the falloff range? if not that explains your problem.

Taranis. My falloff is ~3200m and i=I orbit at ~ 2300-2700. Basically I'm complaining... Taranis pre-patch = great damage, now I barely even hit.

yes but if your falloff is 3200 what is your optimal? falloff is only important AFTER you are at optimal range.

Guys, there is something wrong with the formula and CCP will fix this. Linkage

Um... I'm actually quite pleased with blasters post-patch. In an Incursus using "market" light ion blasters and antimatter ammo, I'm scoring solid (ordinary) 50 point hits while orbiting at 2.5km. One thing I do, though, is switch off my MWD after my approach and orbit at "low" speed.

Yeah, blasters seem to be one of the only weapons that hit consistantly now. Orbiting with a MWD off, I get solid hits all the time with ions/neutrons. The tracking on electrons got so beefed up that I can hit reasonably well while orbiting with a 10mn AB on.
It helps though that I'm in an incursus, the 25% bonus to tracking is great with blasters. -------------------------------------------- CONCORD: Kneecapping Pilots for Misdemeanors Since 2003 |

ok, I tested them on a reg. frigate and they work real well, but against a interceptor (which is what i tested them on first) they are not too good. In fact, no gun is good against interceptors, period. with lvl 4 interceptor my Taranis has a sig radius of 60m, and all frigate guns are 100m resolution. Now im not sure what the formula is when it comes to the relationship between gun resolution, ship sig radius, and accuracy, but i can guess that my ship being 40% less than small gun resolution has a huge affect on accuracy, thus making turret-based frigates and interceptors exceptionally weak against interceptors compared to their missle firing counterparts. Thus I move that frigate turret resolution be reduced, or missles *somehow* have some dependency on sig radius...

Actually, I fought a Taranis with my Taranis today using ion blasters, and they hit just fine. Since we both ended up in pods pretty much at the same time, I think the other pilot would agree...

Why in the hell would you orbit at 2.5km?
Orbit at 500m. ------------- My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance and take off their underpants. I <3 ( . Y . ) |

by 2.5km i mean that is my actual distance, not what i set it to orbit at, I set it to orbit at 1km, and when i set it to 500m i do even less dmg, so...

i dont know if this matters, but i actually did more damage with my 200mm's orbiting at 2.5km than at 500m..
