But, be warned: you absolutely cannot play this game effectively with less than billions of ISK in your wallet (if not more). And from a gambling standpoint, the math is never on your side. The timings can be inaccurate, but apparently they are more accurate if you watch the webcam (this degenerates into too much metagaming for me, but that is a personal choice). Let me be clear that I am not questioning the legitimacy of this game - it seems completely legit so far as I can tell.
If you're looking for a thrill and don't value your ISK, this is a good way to go. Mathematically speaking, some of the lottery type games that are posted here provide better (or rather, more proper) odds to empirically justify risking your hard-earned ISK.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pot_odds The reality is that this game is a portion of a portion of a no-limit Poker-type game; in my opinion, it's incomplete. The cards (math) and the human element (judgement) are removed. Strategy is diminished because the timings are not perfect - Amarylyn admits this freely in the game rules. For example, it is incredibly easy for Amarylyn to artificially inflate the pot by allowing time to run over slightly, which could potentially allow late bets into the pot, increasing it exponentially. To be clear, that is not an accusation, it is a statement of possibility, and I think that's important to consider before you bet your ISK.
We can never know that this is 100% legitimate, camera or not. In terms of the math, you simply cannot justify a bet. This truly is gambling, and it is impossible to diminish that factor to such an extent as to justify the risk. Please keep these things in mind when you decide to bet. You are paying for the entertainment provided - just like going to Vegas. Do not do this if you're trying to make ISK.
I could go on, but I think I've made my point. Have fun everyone!
PS: To keep the air as clear as possible, I will state that I played a few rounds, and bet/lost an insignificant amount of ISK. This is not a bitter post.
