Why is it, the Legion has ~400m3 and it uses crystals and the Proteus uses ammunition rounds and it has 280m3? Did somebody misread the design doc on the day they designed the t3? Sometimes, the best thing to do is have a random moment of compassion. |

It depends on the subsystems, but none of them seem to go above 320 for Gallente. |

They change size depending on which Defensive subsystem you use. Proteus cargobay can be from 220 to 300.
I thought they reduced the size of hybrid ammo recently anyway.

Maybe when they designed it they feared an abuse of cap boosters with some setups/fits? Otherwise is inexplicable. |

Yeap, 320m3 is a hellofalotof hybrid ammo for one ship...
Could we be talking cap booster charges? ;-) |

I thought you could make a HAM legion (and thus need ammo). - [yellow]English only please. Zymurgist[/yellow] |

Legion is a decent missile boat too, yo.
But yah, hybrid boat/armor tank with low cargo = lol. shiptoastin' liek a baws |

What is the formula that CCP uses to determine cargo size? How is this anything other than arbitrary? Sometimes, the best thing to do is have a random moment of compassion. |

I believe they do have some sort of reasoning for the different sizes of cargobays. It might even be written down somewhere. I've never bothered to go looking for it. |

They're numbers that were settled on for balance; 280m3 is what was decided uppon for a Proteus with the buffer subsystem. The thing with the Legion having more space is because as a laser + armour platform, it uses more capacitor and hence the extra space lends itself well to cap boosters. Atleast that's my theory on how CCP balanced it.
What would you possibly need 22,400 units of medium hybrid ammo for anyway? |

There is another point, the Proteus has even less structure points then the Legion, which is odd if you compare it to other T1 and T2 ships. |

Too lazy to keep reloading after using 10,000 + xxx pastes and then there are 2 scripts. If I need something else, I couldn't possibly hold any adequate numbers to be useful. Sometimes, the best thing to do is have a random moment of compassion. |

There's more pressing issues with the Proteus, like not being able to field 5 heavies and lacking a decently sized dronebay. Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

If it could field 5 heavies it would mess with the Ishtar's roles; the new Tech 3 ship role seems to be Generalization over Specialization; at least according to the fanfest ship rebalancing panel. So performing a multitude of roles rather than just outperforming Tech 2 like they do right now. |

I'd actually like to see a T3 subsystem for mining... No joke. It would make the CPU subsystem remotely useful. Obviously it should be an offensive subsystem so you can't fit a covops cloak with it.
It would also need a large bonus to cargo capacity ;-) |

This right here would be m guess. Energy weapon boat. Uses cap boosters sometimes right? Hybrid boats don't NEED them quite as often. Might make the prot op if it could stuff 20 cap booster 800s and a reasonable amount of ammo in there. |

Cap boosters is exactly why I'd want to see bigger cargo on it, and I'd hardly call it 'op'. The other t3's can play kiting roles, the Proteus will always be stuck in scrambler/web range and much more likely to also be neuted. I have used all of them in combat to various extent, and this is a major reason I don't fly the Proteus anymore. Just takes one ship with decent neuting and you sit there, no mwd, no speed, no cap to shoot or run hardener with, praying to boosters and wishing you liked blob warfare and had fleetmates to save you.
TL;DR it's a good ship, it's just pretty vulnerable, especially the range, which ultimately affects the cap quite a bit. shiptoastin' liek a baws |
